Boardman Church Choir Presents Christmas Cantata By Mary Lee Marlow The Community church choir presented a Christmas story can tata, "The Gift Supreme", Sunday at the morning service. Soloists featured were Martin Shattuck, tenor, singing "Hail Thou" and "Great Is Jehovah"; Miss Zelma Cowan, soprano, "Mary's Song"; Miss Jean Scott, alto, "Great Is Jehovah"; Mrs. Lowell Shattuck, soprano, "And So It Was"; Russell Miller, Willard Baker and Martin Shattuck, 'The Shepherd's Song"; with baratone solo by Miller. Other members of the choir are Mrs. Rollin Bishop, Mrs. Florence Root, Donna Watts and Mrs. Everett Daniels, sopranos; and Mrs. Claud Coats, alto. Mrs. Elvln Ely was the reader, Mrs. Frank Marlow, accompanist. The Tillicum club held ils an nual "Carnation Sister" party at the homo of Mrs. Harold Baker Tuesday night of last week. Car nation sisters for the year were revealed with an exchange of gifts and new names were drawn for next year. There were 12 members present. Guests were Mrs. Roy Partlow, Mrs. Wayne Conyers, Mrs. Vernon Russell, Mrs. Bob Sicard and Mrs. Char les Higuera. Gifts were also brought to send to the state hos pital at Pendleton. Announce ment was made that Sky Watch awards would be given out, at the Christmas program at the school Thursday, Dec. 20, for members of the Ground Observer corps having watched for 25 hours. The Home Economics club rnet Wednesday of last week at the grange hall with potluck dinner at 12:30. Hostesses were the losing side In the recent attend a nee contest. The nominating com mittee reported that Mrs. Mar garet Hamilton had been nomi nated vice chairman; Mrs. Eva Briggs, secretary; Mrs. Mabel Al len, treasurer. Greenfield grange met Thurs day night at the hall, starting at 6:30 with potluck supper. Be fore the business meeting a Christmas party was held with exchange of gifts. Sandra Thorpe played a trumpet solo, "Oh Come All Ye Faithful"; Jim Mil ler, played a piano solo, "Silent Night". A group of children In eluding Jim and Patty Miller Sandra and Teresa Thorpe, Leon ard and Greg Bedord, Dick and Bobby Skoubo and Cathy Loop sang "Jingle Bells. 1 At the meeting following the charter was draped for Mrs. Ed Kunze, grange member who died Dec. 6. Greenfield grange will have a joint installation of officers with the Irrigon grange here at the hall Thursday, Dec. 27 at 8 p m. Ladies of both granges are to bring a pie. The Garden club met for the regular monthly meeting together with a Christmas party Monday night at the home of Mrs. Nate Macomber with Mrs. Florence Root as co-hostess. There were 18 members present, and visitors were Mrs. Don Downey, and Shir- lew Earwood. Mrs. Claude Coats was elected secretary to finish the six month term of Mrs. Ed Kunze, who died Dec. 6 At the party Christmas carols were sung and each member told of an outstanding Christmas oc casion. There was also a gift exchange. Each one present was presented with an attractive cor sage which was made by Mrs. Rollin Bishop and Mrs. Nate Ma comber. Mrs. Louise Earwood returned home Saturday from Hollywood, Calif., where she has visited for the past month at the home of her son and daughter in 'law Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Earwood. Her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Califf of Estacada, brought her home, and were weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Downey. Sun day visitors at the Downey home were Mrs. Downey's uncles and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Steinke and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Steinke and four sons of Arling ton. Mrs. Mattie Scott, Seattle, Wash., Is here to visit her daugh ter, Miss Jean Scott, for the Christmas holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Alton Klitz of Shell Beach, Calif., visited at the home of Klitz's mother, Mrs. Mar garet Klitz. last week. Mrs. Bessie Woods, Orofino, Idaho, former resident here, visi ted friends here last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Laddie Goddard, Goodnoe Hills, Wash., and Albert Veelle, Mollala, were Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Stewart. Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Ball and daughter Barbara of Westfir visi ted from Wednesday until Sun day at the homes of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Ball and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kress. Barbara stayed for a week's visit at the Kress home, Other visitors at the Kress home from Thursday till Monday were their daughter, Pat, and niece, Betty Olmstead, from Lewiston, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Kress took the girls to Pendle ton Monday to take, the plane back to Lewiston. SP3c Thomas Goodson, sta-1 tioned at Fort Lewis, Wash., visi ted at the home of his brother-in-law and sister. Mr. and Mrs. Vic Neal, from Thursday till Saturday last week. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Thorpe, of Hermiston, were weekend visitors at the home of Hhorp's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Thorpe.
