Ben Standifer drove to Hepp ner on business. A photographer was busy at the school house Tuesday taking pictures of the school children and others. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Kincaid and Tommy drove to John Day Satur day on business. They returned to the Kincaid ranch at Mt. Ver non where they visited his fam ily over Sunday. Among those sick the past 10 days, but not in hospitals were Dale Hunt, John Owings, Judy Davis, Sharline Mellor, Delbert Van Detta, Bill Settle, Grace Stirritt and Martha Matteson. Barbara McDonald returned to her home in Long Creek Friday. She attends high school at Monu ment. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Flower and Wave Jackson spent a few days in Portland visiting with the Hugh Jackson family. Maynard Hamilton left Wed nesday for Pendleton on busi ness. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Enright and Mrs. Chrystle Enright drove to Pendleton Thursday on business and for medical aid. Bud . Holmes of Springfield spent the weekend visiting his brother. Joe Wheeler and Aaron Ingle drove in Saturday evening with a bear. Mrs. Jack'Cavander and Mrs. McVay drove to John Day Thurs day for a workshop on candy making for the holidays. It will be taught here at the December meeting. Mrs. Elmer Mattesan drove to Long Creek where she joined her daughter Jessie Scott and baby and drove to Pilot Rock to visit La Verne Matteson. Een Spain returned after a few days spent away on business for the Columbia Power Co-op. Mrs. Delmer Settle and children and Mrs. Sam Scott and son spent Friday in Monument visiting. They live in Long Creek. This Sunday afternoon looks like Christmas the ground Is white with snow but it soon melted. Lexington News Mr. and Mrs. Armin Wihlon were Portland visitors last week end. HI THE BUSY STITCHERS The Busy Stitchers program of work, which was drawn up by the executive committee, was pre sented to the members at their recent meeting. A suggestion of making stuf fed toys was made and it was decided that the members will work on these at their Christmas party meeting. The toys will be given to a worthy cause. Miss Beverly Bradshaw, Mor row county home economics agent was a guest at the meeting. Mem bers present were Janet Wright, Carol Ann and Connie Anderson, Celia Boulden, Helen Graham, Meredith Thomson and Mrs. Wal ter Wright, leader. Next meeting is scheduled for November 28 with Celia Boulden as hostess. Janet Wright will demonstrate the method of mak ing piped buttonholes. Meredith Thomson, reporter o O-KI-ZU CAMPFIRE GIRLS The O-Ki-Zu campfire girls held a tea for their mothers at the Methodist church October 29. The tea was held to answer ques tions the girls had put in a box. The questions were discussed by a panel consisting of Mrs. Kenneth Keeling, Mrs. Jim Healy and Mrs. Grace Schmidt, with comments by the girls and their mothers. On Nov. 6 we had a boy and girl party that started with a dinner at Sharon Lindsay's home and scavenger hunt, then a dance at the multipurpose room in the new school. The multipurpose room was decorated with a political theme which consisted of elephantts and donkeys. Chaperones were Mr. and Mrs, Bill Blake, Mr. and Mrs. Mickey Schmidt and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Turner.
