Anderson of jVVillamina, and Mrs. Eileen An klerson of Medford, became the fcride of Donald Ivor Gillespie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Zearl J. Gil- Jpspie of Boardman, in a double ting ceremony at 7 p. m. on Friday, July 20, at the Boardman I'ommunity church. The Rev. $tewart Goude, pastor of the Con gregational church in Condon, ' berformed the candlelight service before an altar decorated with huge baskets of gladioli, which t Were from the garden of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Miller. I Truman Messenger, Jr. Hermis ton, cousin of the groom, sang , hternally" and "Because", ac: 1 companied by Mrs. Albert Part low, Irrigon, who also played the wedding, marches. . I The bride, given marriage by ' hcrfather, was lovely in a floor length gown of white lace over satin, fashioned in princess style. ; The gown was made by Miss Nancy Rands, Boardman. The . fingertip veil of illusion net was i. held in place bv a lace can edeed 3 with seed pearls. It was bor- :j rowed from Mrs. Vern Carpenter, Mrs. Gunnar Skoubo and Mrs. Nate Macotnber. It centered a lace-covered table, while the punch and coffee were served from a separate lace-covered table. Bouquets of gladioli were used about the room. After the first piece of cake was cut by the couple, it was cut and served by Mrs. Truman Messenger, Sr., Mitchell, and Mrs. Ray Barlow, Eugene, aunts of the groom. Su san Barlow, Eugene, cousin of the groom, poured the coffee, and Mrs. Frank Marlow, Boardman, served at the punch bowl. Mrs. Claud Coats, Boardman, aunt of the groom, was in charge of the reception, assisted by Mrs. Nate Macomber, Mrs. Arthur Allen, Mrs. Russell Miller, Mrs. Glen Carpenter and Mrs. Florence Root. Mrs. Art Gillespie, Moses Lake, Wash., aunt of the groom, and the groom's mother were in charge of the gift table, and Susan Barlow, Eugene, cousin of the groom, had the guest book. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Anderson wore a beige linen suit with matching accessories, with a corsage of yellow carna tions. The bridegroom's mother wore a gown of summer silk print with white hat and accessories. Her corsage was pink carnations. For going away the bride wore a sheath dress of beige print, ft j. who wore it at her wedding last with tan coat lined with print to November. The bride wore lace i mitts, and a single strand of ; pearls. She carried a purple or chid on a white Bible, a gift of ;;the groom's parents. For something old she carried a lace handkerchief belonging to , the groom's mother. Something new was her gown, and she wore '.the traditional blue garter. Mrs. BUI Miller, Boardman, was (matron of honor and wore a ballerina length gown of laven der crystalette, and carried a nosegay of yellow daisies. Brides maids were ' Miss Lorna Shan non and Shirley Wiese, who wore identical ballerina length gowns of purple crystalette. They car ried nosegays of yellow and white daisies. I Franklin Messenger, Lexing ton, cousin of the groom, was best man, and ushers were Duane Brown, Pendleton, and Gerald Anderson, brother of the bride. They also were the can dleiighrers. I ... Following the ceremony a re ception was held in the grange hall, with about 90 guests at tending. The beautiful four tiered cake, topped by bridal fig urines in a heart, was made by match the dress. Her corsage was the purple orchid from her bridal bouquet, and she had matching accessories. Both the bride and groom are graduates of Boardman high school and have been attending E. O. C. E. at La Grande. After a short trip to Oregon coastal points they are living In the Hoot apartments above the post office. They will attend 0. S. C. at Corvallis this fall. The group held their weekly meeting a week ago Thursday at the home of Mrs. Douglas Drake following a potluck supper. The program included a discussion on "How Old You Are", the friend ship circle singing and MYF benediction. Special guests were Ellen and Paul Burkle of Texas, Nancy Drake of Corvallis and Vicki Kreimeyer. Plans to serve a cafeteria style luncheon in the basement of the Methodist church Saturday, Sept. 1, following the fair and rodeo parade were outlined at a meet mg of the Women's Society of Christian Service Wednesday night in the church parlors. Worship was conducted by Mrs. Kenneth Carpenter. Mrs. Lester Boulden reviewed the organiza tions accomplishments during tne past four years and outlined future proposed activities. She was assisted bv Mrs. Lucille Owens. Mrs. Norman Peters, Mrs. Alex Green, Mrs. Whitmer Wright and Mrs. Carpenter. Three circles will be formed again this fall as work and study groups. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Mary Cason, Mrs. A. Q. Thomson, Mrs. Peters and Miss Opal Briggs. Potluck Held At Koenig Home Guests for a potluck dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Koenig Saturday night were Mr. and Mrs. Philip Blakney, Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Fancher, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Dowen, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sanders, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Angel, Mr. and Mrs. William Bar ratt, Mr. and Mrs. William Sowell and Dr. and Mrs. James Norene. PETERSON'S JEWELRY Newman Home Scene Of Mineral Club Meet The Morrow County Gem and Mineral Society met Tuesday evening, July 24 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Newman. One guest, Mr. Zander of the Oregon Trail Gem and Mineral hociety of Pendleton, was pre sent for the meeting. After the business meeting, Mrs. Newman and Miss Cbnnie Newman served refreshments.
