The committee deter mines all loan applicants' eligi bility and certifies the value of farms to be purchased or im proved if those actions are in volved. It also makes recom mendations on loan approvals and servicing actions. Applicants are approved as eli gible only if other lenders cannot adequately supply their credit needs and only if prospects are favorable for their being able to improve their farming and repay their loans. Families are expected to re finance their loans with other lenders as soon as they are in a position to do so. o Oregon Farm Prices Miss Upward Trend Oregon farm prices failed to follow the national trend up ward in June, says Mrs. Elvera Ilorrell, extension agricultural economist at Oregon State col lege. There was a national average jump of 2 percent in prices re ceived by farmers in June, with no increase in farm costs the first time since 1948 that farm prices have advanced from May to June, Mrs. Horrell pointed out. However, Oregon prices failed to 1 follow this trend and dropped 1 percent in the price index. Oregon farm prices are now 4 percent below a year ago, in contrast to the nearly 2V per cent increase chalked up over the past 12 months in the national average. Cotton, tobacco, and oil-bearing crops crops not grown in Oregon helped lift the national average, Mrs. Horrell explained. COUNSELS AT CAMP Rev. and Mrs. L. D.
