Other of ficers elected were, secretary of promotion; Mrs. Jack Angel; secretary of Christian social re lations and local church activi ties, Mrs. Kenneth Carpenter; secretary of student work, Mrs. Colleen Wright; childrens work, Mrs. Norman Peters; spiritual life, Mrs. Emma Anderson; mis sionary education and service, Mrs. Lucile Owens; literature and publicity, Miss Opal Briggs; Sup ply work, Mrs. Alex Green. On the program theme of "Wo men Throughout the World," talks were made by Mrs. Doug las Drake and Mrs. Lester Boul- den. Mrs. Harlan McCurdy, Sr. talked on "Mexican Wetbacks." Mrs. Lucile Owens and Mrs. Emma Anderson had charge of devotions. Cheryl and Ren Har ris sang a vocal duet. Hostesses were Mrs. D. E. Mothers, Members Honored At Tea By Rainbow Girls The Rainbow Assembly for Girls were hostesses Monday, March 26 at a tea honoring their mothers and the following girls who received their majority de gree; Sharon Becket, Marilyn Bergstrom, Carolyn Calvin Wil- lard, Mary Ann Jensen Palmer and Donna Lovgren Peterson. Mary Jo Stewart played a piano solo, Sandra Jones gave a reading and the Rainbow Girls sang, "Mother of Mine". The program was arranged by Alice Faye Stewart, program chairman. Alice Peterson was chairman of the refreshment committee and Janice Beamer and Ida Sue Strat ton poured. After playing games, the guests were served cake and ice cream from a table decorated with picture dolls, one of which was presented to oach guest. Present were Melani Bailey, Kay Daggett, Shirley Lynch, Theresa Wright, Nonda Clark, Joyce Ramsay, Sally Udell, Di anne Sanders, Marie Hoskins, Joy Derrick and Molly Beckett. o Elks Ladies Night Party Thursday Mrs. P. W. Mahoney was chair mna for the Elks Ladles Night card party Thursday of last week, assisted by Mrs. Willard Blake, Mrs. Loyal Parker, Mrs. Tom Wilson, Mrs. Harry Tamb lyn and Mrs. Terrel Benge. Vice-president is Mrs. Al Fetsch and Mrs. Billy Gentry was named secretary. Meat in meals was the subject for discussion at the meeting and Mrs. Dick and Mrs. Merritt Gray were cohostesses and demonstra ted five types of meat dishes, sir loin, roast, flank steak with Ala stuffing, corned beef with horse radish cream sauce and broiled hamburger. Mrs. Gene Ferguson reported on the county committee and plans for the homemakers festival. The next meeting will be May 8 at the home of Mrs. Sam Tur ner with Mrs. R". R. Drake as hostess. Present were Mrs. N. C. Ander son, Mrs. Al Fetsch, Mrs. Lee Scrivner, Mrs. Bill Turner, Mrs. William Heath, Mrs. R. K. Drake and Mrs. Douglas Drake. o Assembly Delegates Elected By Rebekahs Sans Soucl Rebekah lodge No. 33 held a regular meeting Friday evening April 6 at the I. O. O. F. hall. Mrs. Altha Kirk was recom mended for district deputy presi dent and three delegates, Mrs. Rufus Piper, Mrs. Pearl Devine, and Mrs. Kirk were elected to at tend the Rebekah Assembly to be held at Tillamook in May. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. N. D. Bailey, Mrs Ray Munkers and Mrs. Don Thomas. Twenty two were present. Christian Church Tea Very Successful A large crowd attended the Christian church tea and bazaar Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Paul Jones was chairman for the affair and hostesses were Mrs. Lennie Louden, Mrs. Robert Thompson and Mrs. Frank S. Parker. Booth chairmen were Mrs. Roy Neill, Mrs. Frank E, Parker, Mrs. E. R. Huston, Mrs. Emma Jones and Mrs. Casha Shaw. Mrs. Charles V. Knox sang two solos, accompanied by Mrs. Joe Stewart, Mary Jo Stewart played a piano solo and Alice Faye Ste wart played a clarinet solo, ac companied by her mother. San dra Jones gave a humorous reading. o Two Tables of Bridge In Play Tuesday At Hamilton Home Mrs. Herbert Hamilton was hostess last Tuesday afternoon for two tables of bridge at her home. Those present were Mrs. James Thomson, Mrs. Henry Happold, Mrs. Oral Wright, Mrs. Laurence Becket, Mrs. Lester Wyman, Mrs. George Little, Mrs. Jack Bedford and the hostess. Local Women Hear Artist's Lecture Mrs. Dick Borman and Mrs. Alvin Bunch drove to Condon Monday evening to attend a spe cial P-TA program, featuring Marco Murolo, artist, who is supervisor of art in Pendleton public schools. Murolo lectured" before and after the dinner meeting held at the Condon hotel and criticized the work of local amateur artists. Aside from his regular teaching job in the schools, Murolo con ducts night classes for adults and lectures throughout the area. A tentative date for a similar meeting has been set for May 1st in Condon and anyone inter ested in attending may contact Mrs. Bunch. o Luncheon Celebrates Two Birthdays Brian Thompson and Jon O' Donnell who are both five years old, were hosts Sunday at a birthday luncheon at O'Don nell"s cafe. The party wes ar ranged by Mrs. Alex Thompson and Mrs. Harry O'Donnell, Sr. Guests were Billy Wolff, Mark Labhart, Vicky Robinson, Mark Koenig, Jan Fancher, Jayne Do- wen, Lindy Thompson, Dennis O'. Donnell, La Verne Van Marter III and Mary Ann O'Donnell. Mrs. Thompson entertained the guests with stories and games were played. Bridge Club Meets At Popham Home The Duplicate bridge club met Saturday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Popham. Fina plans were discussed by those planning to attend the re gional conference in Coos Bay this weekend. Seven members of the club plan on going. Eva Wright won the door- prize Gem Society Guests Of Pendleton Club The Morrow county Gem and Mineral Society was a guest of the Oregon Trail Gem and Min eral Society in Pendleton last week. N. S. Wagner and Hollis Dole, officials of the Oregon State de partment of geology, gave talks on Oregon's mineral resources. This meeting was a celebra tion of the fifth birthday of the Pendleton Society and members Boardman News More people have been re ported ill with the flu the past week. Nels Kristensen was in Good Shepherd hospital in Her miston last week with pneu monia, and Frank Marlow was taken back to the hospital last Thursday with a relapse of the flu and bronchitis. They both returned home Monday. Mrs. Claud Worden was a patient in Good Shepherd hospital one day last week.
