S. A. 11:30 Nitecap News Many At Boardman Stricken By Flu By Mary Lee Marlow Many cases of a form of flu have been reported in Boardman the past week, with at least two patients hospitalized. Mrs. Guy Ferguson returned home Mon day from the Good Shepherd hos pital in Hermiston after being there a week. Sandra Thorpe, nine year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Thorpe, was taken to the hospital Sunday with flu and complications. Ray Ander son, school superintendent, re ported that twenty-five per cent of the high school was absent from schol Monday, all suffering from the flu, and a good many grade school pupils also. Seve ral of the teachers were ill last week. Russell Miller and Bob Miller started their planting, of early potatoes last week. The cold weather delayed the proceedings about ten days this year. Members of Greenfield grange held a box social Saturday night at the hall. Hosts were members of the social committee, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Briggs and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mills. Preceding the social the third and fourth de gree was exemplified for Mr. and Mrs. Mills. Visitors last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brown were Brown's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Brown, Waitsburg, Wash. The county extension unit met Tuesday of last week at the home of Mrs. Russell Miller. Miss Beverly Bradshay, extension agent, Heppner was leader of the meeting, the subject being "Ac cessories for Clothes." Due to a small attendance election of officers for next year was post poned until the next meeting, which will be April 17 at the home of Mrs. Ralph Skoubo. Sub ject of this meeting will be "Meat in meals", and leader will be Mrs. Hugh Brown. The last assembly of the Na tional School Assemblies pro gram for this year will be held in the gymnasium Wednesday, April 4, at 2:45 p. m., at which time the Galati's dance team will be presented.
