1 Ray Heimbigner Re By Echo Palmateer Ray Heimbigner was re-elected president of the lone P-TA at a meeting Wednesday evening March 14. Mrs. Wallace Mat thews was elected vice president and Mrs. L. F. Leathers was re elected secretary-treasurer. Don na Lingle, International Farm Exchange student to Greece, showed slides and gave a very interesting talk on her four months stay with 19 families in Greece. Miss Beverly Bradshaw, county extension agent, present ed Judy Howton with a 4-H scholarship. The film, The Stair way to Happiness, on crippled cnimren at the Eugene hospital was shown in connection with the Easter seal sale. Mrs. L. F. Leathers and Dalene McDonald sang Easter Parade accompanied by Mrs. Lloyd Howtan. $169.00 was taken in at the Fun Nite and $50.47 at the athletic banquet. The P-TA will purchase new dishes. A committee was ap pointed to check on the Polio im munization given at the school. The White House conference will be held March 23 at the school at 8 p. m. The speakers will be Jack Flug, Dewey West and Bradley Fancher. The re maining P-TA meetings will be at 8 p. m. Refreshments were served bv W .11. i . Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Mat thews and daughters were visi tors in The Dalles Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. James Lindsay gave a dinner Sunday in honor of her mother, Mrs. D. W. Akers who was 84 years old. Those from here who attended the state basketball tournament in Eugene last week were Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Morgan and Mr. and Mrs. Jodie Morrison. Donna Lingle, International Farm Youth Exchange student to Greece from Clackamas county showed colored slides on Greece at the Maranatha club meeting at the Omar Rietmann home on Wednesday afternoon March 14. She also displayed articles' she brought from Greece. At the meeting plans were completed for the luncheon April 16 for the Mid Columbia Women's associa tion. Plans were also made for the Easter breakfast to be served in the Community church basement following the Easter sunrise ser vices to be held in the city park this year. The following chair man were appointed by Mrs. Omar Rietmann, president of the club: cooking, Mrs. Lloyd How ton; tables, Mrs. Berl Akers; serving, Mrs. E. M. Baker and cleanup, Mrs. Walter Dobyns. This breakfast is a freewill of fering and the public is welcome. A clean up of the church will be held March 26 and 27 with Mrs. E. M. Baker, Mrs. Howton and Mrs. Marion Palmer as chair man. Refreshments were served after the meeting by Mrs. Rietmann and Mrs. Bryce Keene. Mrs. Ar villa Swanson and Mrs. Noel Dobyns received the door prizes. A potluck dinner was served at the Garland Swanson home Thursday evening of last week. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Errett Hummel, and children of Beaver ton, Mr. and Mrs. John Eubanks and daughter, Sandra, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Lindstrom, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Stefani and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen and child ren. Carl Troedson entertained the following at a Smorgasbord at his home Friday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Nottage of Portland, Miss Nellie Carlson of King's City, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Frank lin Lindstrom and sons, Mrs. Lake Beckner and Johan Troed son. The Lindstroms showed their pictures on the around the world trip. The Nottages are visiting her father, Johan Troed son, and other relatives. C. of Willows grange met at the home of Mrs. O. L. Lundell Friday March 16 with Mrs. Sam Esteb as co-hostess. The roll call was answered by telling an Irish joke. The club donated $lrj toward the piping of water to the I. O. O. F. cemetery project. Games were conducted by Mrs. Ernest Heliker. Mrs, Rena Jenkins received the door prize. The next meeting will be April 20 at the Berl Akers home with a potluck dinner at noon. Lewis Halcorsen purchased the Congregational building and will move it to his property down Willow Creek. Mrs. Ray Boyce entertained the Bridge club at her home Friday evening of last week. Mrs. Pete Cannon received high, Mrs. Gene Hall 3rd high and Mrs. Robert Miller, low prize. A birthday party was "held after the regular meeting of the Bunchgrass Rebekah lodge Thurs. day evening March 15. Those present having birthdays were Mrs. Clell Rea, H. O., Fred and George Ely, and E. R. Lundell. Bingo was played and refresh ments were served. The hostesses were Mrs. Ida Coleman, Mrs. Del- la Corson, Mrs. Wate Crawford, Mrs. Harvey Ring and Mrs. Wal ter Roberts. Mrs. John Voorhees and daugh ters of Portland spent last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wate Crawford. Mr. Voorhees came after them Monday. Duane Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Baker and Dorothy Dobyns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noel Dobyns, and both students at Pacific University were on the honor roll there the past term. Anna Jepsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jepsen was in terviewed at the Emanuel hos pital last week. She is a senior in the lone school and plans to take up nursing. Those from here who attended the Sunday school meeting at Quincy, Wash., Thursday of last week were Rev. and Mrs. Wilfrad McKay and son Neil, Mrs. Stuert Aldrich and Louise Botts. The McKays and their son Neil, also attended a young people's zone rally in Hermiston Tuesday of last week. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. Art Brownlow of Heppner, Mrs. Ralph Crum and 'children Bonnie and Jack, Mrs Ida Grabill, Mrs. Stuert Aldrich, Louise Botts and Lindsay Kin caid. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Barnett and son Paul and Mrs. Delia Corson attended the Myatt-Duran wed ding in Heppner Saturday. The young people of the Naza rene church were entertained at a party at the Ralph Crum home Friday evening of last week. Around 20 attended. They en joyed a weiner roast and a sing spiration. Mrs. Leo Crabtree left for Van couver, B. C. to visit her grand father Mr. Fredrick, who is very ill. Judy and Alice Mason spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dorr Mason at Hinds. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Fletcher and children of Yakima spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Ring. Billy and Merle Lundell of Mil- waukie spent the weekend with their relatives here. Garden Club Meets 4 The Garden club met at the home of Mrs. Echo Palmateer Tuesday afternoon March 13 with Mrs. Edith Nichoson as co-hostess. Mrs. Monetta Aldrich pre sided at the meeting. Mrs. Rena Jenkins gave an article on In sects. The club decided to send Litter Bug signs to the Farm Home and Rural Life committee. $10 was given to the cemetery project sponsored by the sorority group.
