She stopped in Boise and visited her sister then came on to John Day where her son Floyd Fergerson brought her on home. Mrs. Jim Crocker has returned from the Prairie City hospital where she has been for surgery. Lois Bleakman returned from John Day March 10 where she had been under doctor's care. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ledgerwood brought her home and spent the weekend at the ranch with her folks the Bleakmans. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Slocum have bought the house they are liv ing in from her son, Roe Bleak man. They plan to enlarge it. Stella McCarty drove to Prine ville Monday on business. She was accompanied by Mary Lip pert and her father, Mr. Simpson. Mr. and Mrs. Spike Millej" of Prineville were In town Wed nesday. The Bob Kelly family, who sold their ranch to L. L. Flower, have moved into one of the mill houses for the summer. Mrs. Harold Lippert held a birthday party Wednesday af ternoon for her oldest son, David, four. Mrs. Vern McCarty and child ren spent four days visiting here. They stayed at the Kingman home. Mr. ani Mrs. Lee Slocum drove to Cecil Saturday to spend a few days with her daughter and family, the Herbert Hynds. Doris Kingman and Stella Mc Carty drove to Long Creek Tues day t0 visit Jessie Scott and Donna Keeny. Helen Holmes was in John Day Saturday on business. Mrs. Mary Wright of Rhea Creek spent the weekend with her mother Granny Capon. Mrs Harold Wright visited over the weekend with her mother, Wave Jackson, brother Wilbur Flower and her uncle, Rush Crob tree. Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh of Ukiah have moved to the Kenneth Batty place on the river to run the ranch. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Enright and girls were visiting at the Dick Williams' Sunday from their home at Long Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Carsten Brand hagen spent the weekend In Pen dleton visiting his brothers. The Columbia Power Co-op was busy for a few days at the mill repairing wiring and draining the pond to clean it. The M. M. M. club was to meet at the Grace Starret home Thurs day due to the sewing classes the meeting has been set for this Thursday. RANCH AERO AIRPLANE SPRAYING CO. OWNED AND OPERATED BY PAUL H. Her brother Boyd Hin ton took her back to the bus Saturday. Fred Barnard of Union came in Saturday to visit his brother Earl and do some work on Boyd Hin ton's house. Dinner guests at the Matteson home Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. Vern McCarty and children and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kingman. Donald Gilman was In for the weekend visiting his folks. Mr. and Mrs. Norman DuBosch of Pendleton were weekend visi tors with their folks, the Charles Roaches and Vic and Mary Du Bosch. i Joet Mellor helped the Kellys moveSaturday and Clenta cooked dinner and supper for the 12, who helped scrub the house and get settled on Sunday. William Farrow, county agent, was here Saturday afternoon and held a feed relief meeting for the farmers at the grange hall. St. Anne's- church ladies held a cooked food sale Saturday at Boyer's store. The grade school held their finals in basketball Saturday at Monument. The results were Prairie City, first; Long Creek, second, Monument, third and Bates, fourth. Ross McDonald of Long Creek spent Sunday at the Dick Wil liams' home. Dale Matteson of Heppner was visiting his folks here Saturday night and Sunday. George Manuel , of Dayville district commander of district 11 Mr. and Mrs. Joe Green of Mt. Vernon, Mrs. Green is dist. 11 president and membership com mittee of the American Legion auxiliary, joined Monument on Saturday night for their Legion birthday party. R. "Bob" Runnion AUCTIONEER MERRY COOKERS The Merry Cookers met at their 4-H leaders house, Mrs. Claude Graham. Beverly Bradshaw was there and gave a demonstration on how to make a sponge cake. While we were waiting we made clam soup. Shannon and Laura Lee made the sauce and Julie and Carolyn fixed the clams. Then we all had some soup. Laura Lee Sumner, reported CAMP COOKERS During the last meeting we decorated one of O. C. Swanson's store windows for National 4-H week. When we finished we went to the home of Mrs. Roy W. Lindstrom where we ate our own stew which we made earlier. Our leader, Mrs. Herbert Ek strom, passed out new 4-H calendars and new cook books. Stephen Lindstrom, reporter that she had started at the last meeting. It was a fine story. Dr. Wagner gave us a drill in marching out in the yard. We also had a game on telling di rections. Steve Estberg, Scribe o Mrs. Charles O'Connor gave a birthday party March 12 for her daughter, Terry, who was six years old. The party was held at the Masonic hall, with the fol lowing guests: Charles and Kris tin Nelson, Susan Hams, Stephen and Susan Lindstrom, Bonnie Morgan, Kerry and Kristine Pe terson, Janice Snider, Joyce How ton, Kathy Keene, John Raw lins, Sharleen Hamlett, Marlene and Anita Crawford, Frank Hal vorsen, Mark Tullis, Pamela and Paul Proudfoot, Linda Rowell, Jimmie Swanson, Kathy Hausler and Marjorie O'Connor. Harry Yarnell, a patient in the Pioneer Memorial hospital in Heppner, is reported to be im proving in .health. FIVE HAPPY SEW AND SEWS The Five Happy Sew and Sews met at the home of Mrs. Leila Palmer at 1:30 Saturday March 10. This week we sewed during the meeting. Sandra Beach made 'a bean bag. Janet Palmer and Leora Van Winkle made a pin cushion. Linda Van Winkle and Carol Ann Palmer studied their books. Refreshments were served by Leora Van Winkle. Leora Van Winkle, reporter o TRAILBLAZERS The Heppner Trailblazers met March 15 at the home of Mrs. C. M. Wagner. Mrs. Wagner opened the meet ing with a prayer. We added a black diamond to each of our display boxes. Our leader finished reading the "Word Of Honor", a story visiting. Jessie Scott spent the weekend with her folks. After our meeting we practiced for our part in the ceremonial next Sunday. We invited all our friends to come to it. It will begin at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Cecilia McElligott and Mrs. Teresa Beaucahamp both of Portland are the grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Martin and children visited relatives last week in West Linn and Astoria.
