Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ray returned nome baturday Feb. 25 from three weeks trip to Los Angeles wnere they visited their son-in- law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Armington. They also went to ban Diego and into Mexico. Mrs. Harold Sherer was a Da- tient in the Pioneer Memorial hos pital in Heppner last week. Grove and Charles White of Port land spent the weekend at the Gordon White home. Miss Virginia Jepsen, nurse at the Emanuel hospital in Portland visited relatives here this week Tom White, student at E. O. C. E. spent the weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Gordon White. Mrs. Milton Morgan gave i party at her home Tuesday even ing Feb. 21 in honor of her daugh ter, Marilyn, who was thirteen years old. Guests present were: Michele Morrison, Geraldine and Judy Morgan, Dianna Pettyjohn, Linda Halvorsen, Linda Hams, Jo Ann Turner, Ann Baker, Lona White, Dalene McDonald, Jean Martin, Karen Lundell Marv Emert, Sharon Crabtree, Brenda Townsend, and Linda Heimbig ner. Games were played with Michele Morrison, Dianna Petty john, and Jo Ann Turner winning prizes. Refreshments were ser ved afterw'ard. Mrs. Wate Crawford entertain ed the Three Links club at her home Friday afternoon Feb. 24 At the business meeting conduc ted by Mrs. Crawford the roll call was answered by telling why Washington or Lincoln was ad mired. It was decided to discon tinue the Secret Pal project for this year. Games were played with Mrs. Ernest Heliker as leader. Mrs. Mary Swanson, Mrs. Delia Cor son and Mrs. Wallace Matthews received the prizes. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Heliker gave a birthday dinner Tuesday evening Feb. 21 in honor of John Hughes who was 87 years old. Others present were John Bry- son, Ed Buschke and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Heliker. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan attended the annual dinner of the Federal Land Bank in Pen dleton last week. Mr. Morgan is a director of this organization. Clifford Yarnell of Vancouver, Wash., was a visitor here last week. He visited his father, Harry Yarnell wh0 Is a patient in the Pioneer Memorial hospital in Heppner. John Jepsen of Oregon Tech at Klamath Falls spent the week end with relatives here. The American Legion Auxiliary met at the home of Mrs. Walter Corley Tuesday evening Feb. 21 with Mrs. Sam Esteb as co-hostess. At the business meeting conducted by Mrs. Delmer Craw ford, It was decided to change the date of the Child Welfare tea to March 11. This will be at the Legion hall at 2:30 p. m. The Legion anniversary will be cele brated with a potluck dinner at the Legion hall March 20 in the evening. After the business meeting bridge and pinochle was held. Prizes were won by Mrs. Eldon Tucker, high in pinochle and Mrs. Ernest McCabe with high in pinochle. Word was received of the death of Mrs. Doris Wilt Blake of Portland last week. She is sur vived by her husband, Ray Blake, a daughter, Marjorie and 2 grand children. She was a former resi dent of lone. Ray Heimbigner received burns on his hands last week when gasoline ignited while putting it in his ear. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Shirley of Portland are the parents of a son born Feb. 26. Rev and Mrs. Alfred Shirley are the grand par ents. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Nichols and family of Lexington spent Sun day with Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Tucker. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Palmer entertained at a buffet supper at their home Saturday evening Feb. 25 in honor of Miss Mary Ann Jensen and their son Lee, whose wedding was Feb. 26. Others pre Guests at the Harold Sherer home Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Sherer and Mrs. Melvin of Echo, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Petty john and son, Jimmy of The Dal les, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Tettyjohn and children and Noah Pettyjohn of Arlington and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn of lone. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dobyns and Mrs. Mary Swanson attended church services in Gooseberry on Sunday. Henry Peterson is a patient in the Walla Walla Veteran's hos pital. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hoskins are the parents of a daughter born Feb. 25 in the Pioneer Me morial hospital in Heppner. Mr. Ely. George Ely and Wate Craw ford of lone, Howard Crowell of Lexington and David Ely of Ord nance. They reported a very successful convention. 2nd Lt. LeRoy Brenner of the Naval Air Force who has been stationed at San Antonio, Texas spent a few days with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Brenner. He flew here but drove back to Florida where he will be sta tioned. Donald Eubanks, student at Pacific University, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Eubanks. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Corley and daughter Sherry, Joe Gaarsland and Billy and Mildred Seehafer spent Sunday at the W. G. Funeral services were held for Mrs. Emma Clara Ely in Coos Bay Friday Feb. 24. She was born in Wisconsin and died after a long illness. She is survived by her husband, Charles Ely and was a sister-in-law of H. O., Fred and George Ely of lone. She lived in Coos Bay for 26 years and was a resident here several years ago.
