Installing officers in the Ma sons were Oscar Peterson, install ling officer: Charles O'Connor marshal; and George Ely, chap lain. In the Eastern Star. Mrs Delia McCurdy, installing officer: Mrs. Amabel McMillan, marshal: Mrs. Lena Lundell, chaplain and Mrs. Marjorie Baker, organist. A turkey dinner preceded the installation. The following school Droeram was given in the old school gym inursday evening Dec. 22; an operetta, "Where Was Santa" by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd erades Julie Rietmann was the Diano accom panist; the intermediate erades gave an operetto, "Red Candles" with Karen Lundell as accompa nist; the high school presented the Nativity scene. The teachers working on the Droeram were Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Moeck, Mrs. Ely, Mr. Hausler. Mr. Pierce and Mr. Stevenson. Superintendent New- itt gave the welcome and an nouncements. ' Santa Claus ar rived and brounht treats to all. This was sponsored by the P-TA. The gym was decorated with a large tree and other Christmas arrangements. Christmas guests at the Victor Rietmann home were Mr. and Mrs. John Turner of Baker, Miss Alice Nichoson of Portland; Miss Ruby Ann Rietmann of Pendle ton, Mrs. Olive Eneleman and son Joel. Mr. and Mrs. Walter I Roberts, Mrs. Edith Nichoson, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rietmann and son John, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rietmann, G. A. Pettys. Mr. and Mrs. Merle Baker and family left Friday for Los Ange les to visit relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Fayne Ely and sans of Forest Grove spent the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Ely and other relatives. Students home from schools for Christmas holidays are. Shirlee Mc.Greer, Oregon University will spend some of her vacation in Portland. John Bristow, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Bristow, graduated from Oregon State. He majored in business and technology and received his commission as 2nd Lt. in the Air Force.. He will leave in the spring for Lackland Air Base in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Bristow and children of Portland and Mr. and Mrs. John Bristow of Corval lis spent Christmas at the E. W. Bristow home. Jan 5 Extension Unit meet ing. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kirkelie of Tacoma, Wash., spent Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs Clarence Holtz and other rela tives. Walter Dobyns left last week for Eugene to spend Christmas with his daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tad Hardestry. Mrs, Dobyns has been there for some time. Mrs. Harriet Hall, 1st grade teacher spent the holidays in Portland and Grants Pass. Mrs. Roxie Moeck, 2nd and 3rd grade teacher, visited relatives in Portland during the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cunning ham of Sappio, Wash., are visit ing their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jacobs. Dates to remember: Jan. 3 American Legion Auxil iary meeting. LeRoy Brenner, who is with the Air Force in San Antonia, Texas, is spending his leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Brenner. MONTAGUE SERVICES Funeral services were held for Mrs. May Topsy Montague at Morgan Wednesday, Dec. 21 with the Bunchgrass Rebekah lodge of lone in charge. Interment was in the Morgan cemetery and Ander son Funeral Home of Hood River had charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Montague was born at Ce cil May 18, 1881 and died at a rest home in Hood River.Dec. 16. She is survived by 2 sons, Fred B. of Walla Walla and James Haskell Jr., address unknown; 2 daugh ters, Mrs. . Peggy Barnstrom of Seattle and Mrs. Estelle Wilson of Hood River; 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She lived in Arlington most of her life, and was a member of the Bunchgrass Rebekan lodge. Pfc and Mrs. Clyde Crawford and son are living in the Jose phine Buchanan house on second street Crawford will receive his seperation fom he army the first of the year. . The following officers were re elected at a Three Links club of Bunchgrass Rebekah lodge meet ing at the home of Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn Tuesday, Dec. 20: Mrs. Fannie Griffith, president; Mrs. Wate Crawford, vice-president; and Mrs. E. R. Lundell, secretary and treasurer. A Christmas party was held afterwards with an ex change of gifts. Mrs. Lundell as sisted Mrs. Pettyjohn. The 12th Night ceremony will be observed Friday Jan. 6th at 5 p. m. with the burning of Christ mas trees on the Rietmann vacant lot on Main street Those who cannot take their trees and their greenery to the lot may leave them out on the street in front of the house and they will be picked up. Louis Padberg is visiting in Portland. Visitors from here at the Ro bert Bell home in Hermiston on Christmas were; Mr. and Mrs. Ro ger Kincaid and children, Mrs. Ruby Nichols and sons, Lindsay and Lyle.
