Tuesdays CARPENTER-MILLER VOWS READ AT BOARDMAN CHURCH NOVEMBER 20 By Mary Lee Marlow Miss Laurel Grace Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell K. Miller, Boardman, became the bride of William Vernon Carpen ter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas V. Carpenter, La Grande, at a 3 p. m. double-ring ceremony Sun day, Nov. 20, at the Community church. The Rev. Bruce Wake man, pastor of the Baptist Com munity church, Irrigon, perform ed the candlelight service before a flower decked altar. Mrs. Thurman Johnson sang, "Whither Thou Goesf I Will Go", ana "ine Lord's Prayer", accom panied on the organ by Mrs. Al bert Partlow, Irrigon, wh0 also played the wedding marches. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was lovelv in a floor length gown of imported ivory lace over satin, with fitted bodice, and long sleeves of tulle fastened with tiny covered but tons. The full skirt was fashion ed with panels of the lace and pleated tulle. The finger tip veil of illusion net fell from a lace cap. The bride carried a nosegay of stephanitis with a center of white orchid. For something old she wore white pumps. Something new was her gown. She carried a borrowed white linen handker chief, and wore the traditional blue garter made by her sister, I Mrs. Harold Baker. She had new penny in her shoe for good luck, put there by her father. Candlelighters were Jimmy and Patty Miller, brother and sister of the bride. Patty's gown was a floor length gold taffeta. Mrs. Baker was her sister's ma tron of honor and wore a gown of cinnamon taffeta in waltz length. She carried a bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums. Miss Suzanne Rothrock, Pilot Rock.and Mrs. William Miller, Boardman, were bridesmaids, and wore green taffeta gowns of waltz length. They carried bou quets of bronze chrysanthemums. Wayne Drummond, La Grande, wos best man, and ushers were Merton Taylor and Dick Wright, La Grande. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the Miller home, during which organ music was played by Mrs. Partlow. The beautiful four-tiered wed ding cake, topped by bridal figu rines in a heart, was cut and ser ved by Mrs. Ralph Baker, Corbett, aunt of the bride, after the first piece was cut by the couple. Mrs. James Harding, Del Paso Heights, Calif., aunt of the bride, poured the punch, and Mrs. Bob Miller, Boardman, aunt of the bride, ser ved the coffee. Mrs. Wilbur Akers and Mrs. Berl Akers, lone, aunts of the bride, and Mrs. Dean Griffin, Portland, were in charge of the gift table. Miss Rena Anderson was in charge of the guest book. Aassisting in serving were Mrs. Zoe Billings, Mrs. Robert Har wood, Mrs. Henry Zivney and Mrs. Leonard Bergseth. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Miller wore a plum crepe dress with avocado accessories. Her corsage was of yellow carna tions. The bridegroom's mother wore a navy blue faille dress with white accessories. Her cor sage was pink carnations. Mrs. Effie Miller, grandmother of the bride, wore a dress of blue-gray silk with navy accessories. Her corsage was of white carnations. For going away the bride wore a pink knitted suit with brown hat and accessories. Her corsage was the white orchid from her bridal boupuet. The bride is a graduate of Boardman high school and of E. Games were played and Christ mas boxes of candy and cookies were wrapped for gifts to county patients at the hospital. Refreshments were served by the hostess. by Mrs. Ed. Jayne Dowen Has Fourth Birthday Jayne Dowen was the honoree at a party at the Larry Dowen home Sunday afternoon on the occasion of her fourth birthday. Guests were Jody and Jan Fan cher, Mark Labhart, Judy Gros hens, Nancy Ferrell, Teresa Mona nan, Brian Thompson, La Verne Van Marter III, Renee Snyder, David Gunderson and Gary Do wen. Games were played and a story hour was enjoyed after which refreshments were served. Prizes were won by Brian Thompson, and La Verne Van Marter HI. j MR. AND MRS. Mrs. Harlan Mc Curdy, Sr., received the door prize, '" Penny's 8 Sans Souci Rebekahs Have Birthday Party Sans Souci Rebekah Lodge No. 3.3 held their regular meeting on Friday, December 2. Plans were made for the initiation to be held December 16, at which time 'Holly Lodge No. 139 of Lexington will be guests. The quarterly birthday party was celebrated and refreshments of coffee and cake were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Blanche Brown and Mrs. N. D. Bailey. o Episcopal Circle Names New Officers St. Anne's Circle of All Saints church held a regular business meeting Monday in the parish hall, with seven members in attendance. Officers nominated for 1956 were Mrs. Jack Bedford, chair man and Mrs. Clarence Rosewall, secretary-treasurer. Coffee and cake were served following the meeting.
