A pot luck dinner was enjoyed
last Friday night at the Odd
fellows hall by members of Sans
Soucl Rebekah lodge, the occa
slon being a visitation of their
State Rebekah Assembly presi
dent. "Mrs. Edna E. Bradley of
Clatskanie, Oregon.
A business meeting was held
In preparation for the district con
vention at lone Thursday, Octo
ber 27th.
Mrs. Rufus Piper was in charge
of the meeting at which ninety
were In attendance.
Mrs. Piper presented a gift to
Mrs. Bradley and other gifts were
presented to Mrs. Burl Drury,
past president.Coburg, by Mrs.
Altha Kirk; to Mrs. Lola Osborne,
past president, of Portland by
Mrs. John Bergstrom and to Mrs.
Helen Davis, past president, of
seaside.
Other guests were Mrs. Velma
Holmes, Pendleton who is presi
dent of the Northwest Oddfellows
Association, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest

Rainbow Girls Have
Dinner-Initiation
The supreme adviser of the
Order of Rainbow for Girls, Miss
Lucille Dayball of Portland, was
guest of honor at a dinner given
by the Heppner Rainbow Girls
Wednesday evening October 19.
About 50 members and guests at
tended.
Mrs. Mary Van Stevens, mother
advisor, gave a talk, as did Miss
Dayball and Virginia Andresen,
worthy advisor, who introduced
her officers.
The dinner was served by the
women of the Order of Eastern
Star and was followed by the
regular business meeting and in
itiation of two members, Alice
Faye and Mary Jo Stewart.

For Jeff Carters
Saturday Evening
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Angel and
Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Smith were
hosts last Saturday evening at a
potluck dinner party at the Angel
home, honoring Mr. and Mrs. J.
W. Carter who are leaving soon
to make their home in Payette,
Idaho.
Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Koenig, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pen
land, Dr. and Mrs. E. K. Schaffitz,
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Blakney, Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Sanders, Mr. and

the evening. Another feature of
the party was a psychanalysis for
those who desired it by a talent

St. Monica Guild
Meets Tuesday
St. Monica Guild of All Saints
Episcopal church -met at the par
ish hall Tuesday evening, Octo
ber 18 with seventeen present. It
was reported that the guild re
ceived $55.00 from their food sale
October 14. Plans were made for
the Elks dinner Thursday the
20th.
Hostesses were Mrs. Robert Fer
rell and Mrs. Frank Anderson.
For the next meeting which
will be held the first Tuesday in
November, hostesses will be Mrs.
James Farley and Mrs. James
Valentine.

Has Second Birthday
David Gunderson, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Eddie Gunderson cele
brated his second birthday, Sat
urday, October 22 with a party
at the home of his parents.
Guests were Gary and Jayne

Bergstrom and Terry Miller.

Hears Report On
Fund Raising Drives
Mrs. Jos. Hughes gave a report
on the fund raising drives in the
county, at the Soroptimist club
luncheon Thursday at O'Don
nell's. She told the chairmen of each
of the drives and approximately
how much they raised in their
drives.
In a report on the card party
it was told that about $100 was
raised, which is enough to fi
nance the hayride given each
Hallowe'en for all teenagers.

A novel inovation was that all
the guests received prizes, draw

drew first and Mrs. Turner with
second had the next choice, after
that each guest drew in turn, ac
cording to her score.

Mrs. W. O. George entertained
the What's Trumps bridge club
last Wednesday afternoon with a
salad luncheon.

Elks Saturday Night
Members and guests of the
Heppner Elks lodge enjoyed a
smorgasbord dinner Saturday
night.
Mrs. La Verne Van Marter was
in charge of the affair and was
assisted by Mrs. Virginia Snow,
Mrs. Robert Miller, Mrs. Pat O'
Brien, Mrs. Alex Thompson, and
Mrs. James Farley.
Pine City Extension
Unit Plans Programs
Pine City Extension Unit met
last Wednesday at the Pine City
school to plan programs for six
extension units.
Miss Beverly Bradshaw, home
extension agent discussed exten
sion work this year and evalu
ated last years program includ
ing grooming, meals and furni
ture touch ups.
Miss Bradshaw is currently
holding a tailoring work shop for
all county units.
