The groom's mother was gown ed in green nylon and her cor sage was a large white mum with pink bow. Mrs. Theta Stratton was intro duced as representing the Deeree of Honor lodge and told of all the projects the lodge has. The main one being the sewing for Pioneer Memorial hospital. The hospital furnishes the material arid they make garments, curtains, pack wraps and many other articles used by the hospital. They also contribute to all the usual char-, ity funds and heln with sifts to the Veteran's hospital besides many other smaller jrojects. i Mrs. Rufus Piper represented the Triple Link club and told of their work. Among their main projects is the supporting of the united Nations Pilsrimaee for high school students. They help- ed with the band fund, chape-1 rone teenage parties, hem CamD Columbia and many others be sides the usual charity funds. Mrs. Velma Glass, Morrow county health nurse, told of all the things included in the work of the health department. Re- sides the usual immunization pro gram in the schools, there is to be a hearing survey this vear and with the aid of the TB and Health Association will give the patch test in the schools. II. McConnell of Hermiston, became the bride of ET3c Gene Lowell Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Allen of Boardman, at a double ring ceremony at 6:30 p. m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Board man Community church. The Rev. A. E. Davis. Dastor of tho Methodist church of Hermiston, performed the candlelight ser vice before an altar decorated with baskets of Dink and blue gladioli. Mrs. Thurman Johnson sans "Always" and "Whither Thou Goest, I Will Go". accomDanied by Mrs. Harold Baker, who also played the wedding marches.. The bride, given in marriabe hv her father was lovely in an ice pink taffeta gown of street len gth. She wore a short veil of net held in place with a band trim med with seed pearls. She carried a white orchid. Mrs. Warren R. McConnell, Hermiston, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor, and wore a street length gown of ice Diue tafteta. She carried a nose gay of pink carnations. Clayton Allen, brother of the groom, I he Dalles, was best man, and ushers were Warren R. Mc Connell, Hermiston, brother of the bride, and William E. Garner Boardman. The ushers also lit the pink and blue candles. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Allen. The three-tiered cake, topped by bri dal figuripes in a heart, centered lace-covered table, while thp punch and coffee were served from a separate table. After the first piece of cake was cut by the couple it was cut and served by Mrs. Stephen Perrroti, Yakima, Wash., cousin of the bride. Miss Nita Dorsett, Yakima, cousin of the bride, poured the punch, and pouring the coffee were Mrs. Ber tha Miller, Hermiston, and Mrs. Laura Allen, Boardman. crand- with a handkerchief shower. They met again Sepember 16th, at which time, plans were made for the Presi dent's visit on October 21st. Several birthdays which oc curred during the last three months were celebrated. Cake and coffee were served by Mrs. Floyd Worden and her committee. Mrs. Clayton Allen. The Dal- les, sister-in-law of the groom, had charge of the euest book. and Mrs. Willard Baker, aunt nf the groom, and Mrs. Clyde Tanne nin, both of Boardman. were in charge of the gift table. For her daughter's wprMintr Mrs. McConnell wore a light blue lace over taffeta gown and a blue hat, with navy accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore a gown -of pink lace over taffeta, with pink hat and navy acces sories. Both had corsaees of nink carnations. For going away the bride wore a dar kred knitted suit with black accessories. The bride is a graduate of Her miston high school, and for the past five years has been em. ployed at the Umatilla Ordnance depot, ihe groom is a graduate of Boardman high school and has been in the navv for nine vears. Following a short trip they will live at Port Townsend, Wash., where the groom is now stationed. Out of town guests at the wed ding were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Dyer, Walla Walla, Wash.; Mrs. Minnie B.
