The Rev. A. E. Davis, pastor of the Methodist church In Hermiston, performed the candle light service before an altar decorated with baskets of white gladioli. Mrs. Thurman Johnson sang "I Love You. Truly", "Because", and "Wedding Prayer", the latter as the couple knelt at tne altar, sne was accompanied by Mrs. Frank Marlow, who also played the wedding marches. For something new, she wore pearl earrings, a gift of the groom, and wore the traditional blue garter. La Grande, niece of the bride.as flower girl, wore a ballerina length gown of green eyelet organdy. Jimmy Liny, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the Ely home. The four-tiered wedding cake, topped by bridal figurines in a heart, centered a laee-covereu table, while the punch and coffee were served trom a separate table.' After the first traditional nipof of cake was cut by the couple it was cut and served by Mrs. Mildred Dalley, Meivine, Mont., aunt of the groom. Pour ing at the ounch bowl was Mrs. Wallace Matthews, lone, aunt of the bride. Mrs. William Lilly, Pendleton, poured the coffee. Mrs. Berl Akers, lone, aunt of the bride, had charge of the gifts, and Mrs .Lester Meiners, Pendle ton, was in charge of the guest book. Assisting in serving were Mrs. Duane Missinne, Pendleton, Mrs. Charles Anderegg and Bar bara Anderegg. For her daughter's wedding. Mrs. Elv wore a light blue dress, nf pmhroldered linen, and a! white hat and accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore royal blue crepe with white hat and accessories. Both had corsages of white carnations and white dais ies. For eoine away the bride wore an avacado wool suit with brown velvet hat and brown accessories. Her corsage was the white orchid from her bridal bouquet. The bride Is a graduate of Boardman high school and at tended Eastern Oregon College of Education at La Grande. Former ly employed In the . telephone office at Pendleton she is now employed at the office in Pasco, Wash. The groom is employed at Richland. Following a short triD to Portland they will be at home at 808 south 8th Street, Pasco. I Eck, See. of Pacific synod of United Lutheran churches of U. S. A. Candlelighters were Sha ron Gibney niece of the bride groom and James Harrah brother of the bride. Groomsmen were Ralph John son, Burton Andersen and Ro- hert Schafer. A receotion was held in the chapel dining room and the cou ple later left for a wedding trip to Pinewood, Minn., to visit the bridegroom's parents. They will be at home in Portland. Miss Harrah will be remem bered in this community as she went to the Lexington school when her parents lived here, and was employed several summers for Mrs. Lawrence Palmer. lone Teachers' Reception Held Friday at Cafetorium A teacher reception was held in the cafetorium of the lone high school Friday, September 9, which was well attended by the community. After the invocation by Rev. Shirley, Ray Heimbigner, presi dent of the lone P-TA welcomed the faculty. Superintendent Ne- witt, after explaining the scnooi philosophy for the year, intro duced the faculty consisting of Miss Porfily, Mr. Rigby, Mr. Pryse, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Schmidt, Mr. i;tonhpnsnn Mr. Hausler. Mr. Pierce, Mrs. Ely, Mrs. Moick, and Mrs. Hall. Each teacher gave a few words in response. The program consisted of a piano solo "Caprice" by Karen iuiiutjii, anu a j Adon Iiamlett accompanied by flladvs Drake. The reception line conslstea or. the faculty and the room mothers who were present. Refreshments were served. Those pouring during the even ing were Mrs. Phil Newitt, Mrs. Frederick Martin, Mrs. Delbert Emert, and Mrs. Ray Heimbigner.
