Heppner, Oregon, Thursday August 25, 1955 Grange Picnic Well Attended At lone Sunday By Echo Palmateer The Grange picnic at the city park Sunday Aug. 21 was well at tended. A potluck dinner was served at noon; the grange fur nished the ice cream. The ladies of the H. E. C. of Willows grange held a short meeting in the after noon and decided to hold their dinner and bazaar at the grange nan uct. Mrs. Grace ware returned home last week from a trip into Wash ington where she visited her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. G. V. Crumb in Morton and friends in Seattle and Olym pia. Earl Morgan visited relatives in Portland and other valley points last week. Jimmie Pettyjohn of The Dal les is visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Lindsay. Frank Halvorsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen, in jured his head while swimming in the school pool last week. The wound required two stitches. Harry Yarnell and Ed Buschke and son Louis are on a fishing trip in Canada. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Heliker are vacationing at the San Jaun Islands. Mr and Mrs. Berl Akers and family spent the weekend in Portland. Loren Hale of Tangent and his daughter, Mrs. Mariam Cole of Denver, were visitors here last week. Henry Clark returned home Sunday from Ordnance where he visited his son, Lowell. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Howton and family are spending the week at Diamond Lake near bpoKane Their daughter, Jacqua Lee, is staying' at the Hershal Town send home. Mr .and Mrs. Adon Hamlett and children were Portland visitors last week. Mrs. Mary Swanson accompanied them and remained for a longer visit with relatives in Portland and Salem. Mrs. Wallace Matthews and daughters are visiting relatives in Roseburg. The James Botts family have moved to Irrigon. Mr. and Mrs. George Brewster of Redmond visited their niece, Mrs. Verner Troedson last week. John Skuzeski left Saturday of last week for his home in Port land after helping with the har vest at the Henry Peterson home. Mrs. Skuzeski and sons remained for a longer visit. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peterson nt to Walla Walla last week for medical treatment. Their Hanohter. Mrs. John bkuezeskl and sons accompanied them. Mrs. Wallace Matthews gave a birthday party in honor of her twin daughters uerneice ana De- niece, at the city park Aug. 18. It was their 6th birthday. Guests were first graders and relatives. They were: Pamela Proudfoot, Monty Crum, Pamela McCabe, Pat McElligott, Jimmie Jacobs, Susan Hams, Linda Rowell, Jerry and Teresa Stefani, Kathy Keene, Janet and Ronnie Falmateer, Bon nie Kaye Akers, Bonnie Jean Mnrnan. Marlene and Anita Crawford, Kathy Holtz and Jay, Bobby and Marsha Ball. Games were Dlaved and cake and ice cream were served. The ice cream was in the shape of flowers. Dates to remember: Aug. 26 Three Links club at the Rebekah hall. Sept. 6 City council meeting at A Dink and blue shower was given in honor of Mrs. Harlan Crawford at the Community church parlor Wednesday, Aug. 17. The hostesses were Mrs. vicxor Rietmann. Mrs. Marion Palmer, Mrs. Roy Lindstrom, Mrs. Verner Troedson, Mrs. Garry Tullis and Mrs. Harold Dobyns. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne White have moved to Heppner. Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Martin of West Linn were recent visitors at the home of their son, Fredrick Martin. Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Lundell en tertained thp following at a din ner at their home Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lundell and sons Billy and Merle of Milwaukie, Mr and Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn and familv. Lundell and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bamett. Sam Barnett, John Jepsen, Tom White and Kieth Rea are on a fishing trip to Canada.
