Tuesdays Lex Garden Club Plans Flower Show The Lexington Garden club met in the home of Leila Palmer on Tuesday May 10. Roll call was answered by the louowing members, Edna Mun kers, Nellie Palmer, Gloria Dol- vin Anne Smouse Nellie Johnson, Edna Wetzel, Frances McMillan, May McCall, Frances Schrage, Doris Graves, Leila Palmer, Lee Wagenblast, Cora Warner, Mar jorie Gardner, Ina Nichols, Mar jorie Beach, Mary Bates and three guests, Elsie Peterson, Ruth Van Winkle and Emma White. Plans were made for the an nual flower show next month. Emma Peck invited the club over to her Pendleton home for the meeting next month. Edna Wetzel and Mary Bates led the group in two interesting games. Prizes were awarded. Marjorie Gardner gave a talk oft iris with pictures to illustrate it. Following the meeting refresh ments were served by the hostess, Leila Palmer assisted by Ruth Van Winkle and Marjorie Gardner. Dowens Entertain Saturday Evening Mr. and Mrs. Larry Dowen, who have recently moved into a new home were hosts at a housewarm ing party last Saturday evening. A church reception followed and later the couple left for a wedding trip to Crater Lake, East ern Oregon and California where the bridegroom will be stationed with the Air Force. Two Former Heppner Residents Much Feted Miss Donna Lovgren To Be June Bride Mr. and Mrs. Victor Lovgren are announcing the approaching marriage of their daughter Donna to Robert Peterson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peterson, of lone. The ceremony will be per formed on Saturday June 11 at 4:Q0 p. m. in the Valby Lutheran church at Eight Mile. A reception will follow in the church parlors. Mrs. Rodgers was a houseguest of Mrs. Alex Green and Mrs. McNamer was a guest of Mrs. Mary Van Stevens. Mrs. Rodgers was a breakfast guest of Mrs. Douglas Drake, on Saturday morning and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Duvall entertained at Saturday luncheon for Mrs. Rod gers, Rev. J. Palmer Sorlien and his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry King of Portland. Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parrish were hosts at dinner to Mrs. Rodgers, Mrs. McNamer, Mrs. Mary Van Stevens and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Warren. Mrs. McNamer and Mrs. Rod gers left Monday for Joseph to visit Mrs. Rodgers' brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stevens. Mrs. William Heath, Poppy chairman, discussed poppy sales. Also discussed was the annual dinner to be held at the last meeting of the year, sometime in June. Mrs. LeRoy Gardner and Mrs. Creston Robinson will be in charge. Kelreshments were served by Mrs. Riley Munkers and Mrs. Creston Robinson. OES Officers Club Has Card Party Nintoen tables were in play at tne couple's card party sponsored by the Officers club of Ruth chap ter No. 32, Order of the Eastern Star, Wednesday evening at the Masonic hall. High score in bridge was held by Mrs. William Collins and Mrs. James Driscoll and Mrs. Adelle Bailey and Delbert Wright were high in pinochle. Mrs. W. O. George won the door prize. Mrs. C. C. Carmichael was the chairman for the party and re freshments were served by the officers at the close of the evening. Episcopal Women Meet Monday Eve. The Women's Auxiliary of All Saints Episcopal church met on Monday evening in the parish hall for their missionary meeting. Mrs. Lucy Peterson led the singing of a hymn, accompanied by Mrs. Howard Reed at the piano. The scripture was read by Mrs. Richard Wells and the devotionals were given by Mrs, Mrs. Orville Smith entertained the Whats Trump bridge club with a luncheon Wednesday af ternoon of last week. Guests were Mesdames Tom Wilson, P. W. Mahoney, Raymond Ferguson, James Thomson, L. D. Tibbies, W. O. George, E. K. Schaffitz, Earle Blake, Harold Cohn, Robert Penland, Leonard Schwarz, Claude Graham and the hostess.
