Heppner Gazette Timesf Thursday, January 6, 1955 Page 5 odal cJ-fajijimuicji GAYLE ALBERT AND RICHARD FELLER WED IN PRE-CHRISTMAS CEREMONY The Christian church in Hepp ner was the scene of the recent marriage of Gayle Rae Albert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Albert, to Richard Laurence Fel ler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Feller of Turner, Oregon. Rev. Earl L. Soward officiated. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white lace and tulle with finger tip veil held in place by a pearl tiara. She carried an or chid ana spray 01 wnue roses. Mrs. Cy Flack, of Klamath Falls, matron of honor, wore a white brocade taffeta ballerina length dress with red sash and carried a white velvet muff with a corsage of red carnations tied with red ribbon. , Bridesmaids, all dressed in brocade white taffeta with green sashes and carrying white velvet muffs with corsages of green car nations tied with green ribbon were, Miss Shirley Sommers and Miss Barbara Snook of Salem, and Miss Bernice Huston, Yak imai The bride's sister Miss Fern Albert was junior bridesmaid. Nancy Moore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mearick Moore, Salem, was flowergirl. She wore a white taffeta dtess and carried a basket of chrysanthemums. David Hall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hall was ringbearer. Fred Feller of Salem, was best man for his brother and ushers were Allie Boline, Ed Gilmore, George Schlegel and Robert Fel-. ler of Salem. Mrs. Eldred Wright and Miss Marthene Hankel, candlelighters, wore green ballerina length dresses. Mrs. Fred Hoskins, Jr. sang "Because and "The Lord's Prayer" and Mrs. J. O. Turner was organ ist. At the reception which followed the ceremony Mrs. Ruth Mayer, Portland, aunt of the groom and and Mrs. Everet Newton, Port land, cousin of the bride, poured. Miss Afton Eberhardt and Mrs. Lowell Rippe cut the cake after the traditional first piece cut by the bride and groom. Miss Meredith Hayes of Salem had charge of the guest book. Mrs. Carl McDaniel and Mrs. Herb Ekstrom were in charge of the gift table. Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Feller, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Feller, and Mr. and Mrs. George Feller all of Turner; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Litchfield, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Feller, Mr. and Mrs. Mearick Moore, and Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Wright all of Salem. Granges Install New Officers Sunday The Rhea Creek grange were hosts Sunday afternoon to mem bers of Willows grange of lone and Lexington grange for joint installation of officers of the three granges. Giange mastes elected were Leslie Babb, Rhea Creek; Alvin Wagonblast, Lexington; James Lindsay, Willows. Clarence Potter of Gilliam county was installing officer and Oscar Lundell of Willows grange was installing marshal!. Mrs. Ernest Heliker and Mrs. Oscar Lundell were regalia bear ers and Mrs. Carl Miller was tne musician. Luncheon was served to about 80 peaple. -o Heppner Teacher To Have June Wedding Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sebern of Woodburn are announcing the pmeaeement of their daughter nnnna to Henrv Talus, son of Mrs. Martha Talus of Naselle, Washington. A June wedding is planned. Miss Sebern is a graduate of Wil laette University and is a teacher in the Heppner high school. (Lyons Photo) Bridge Party Held At Gammell Home Mrs. Robert Gammell enter tained with three tables of bridge at her home Wednesday evening December 22. Mrs. Allen Case had high score for the evening, Mrs. Bradley Fancher, second high and Mrs. Jim Norene, low. Guests were Mrs. Allen Case, Mrs. Bradley Fancher, Mrs. Jim Norene, Mrs. Bob Jepsen, Mrs. La Verne Van Marter, Mrs. William Labhart, Mrs. Gene Hall, Mrs. Tom Wilson, Mrs. Larry Dowen and Mrs. Philip Blakney. Refreshments were seivcd at the end of the evening. Rainbow Girls Hold Christmas Dance The Rainbow Girls and their es. corts danced at the Oddfellows hall Tuesday evening December 28 at their annual Christmas sea son dance. Judy Wright was chosen as queen of the affair and Neil Beamer was crowned king. The royal court included Fran ces Slocum, Janice Beamer, Judy Spaulding and Joan Keithly. The hall was gaily decorated with a Christmas tree and other greenery appropriate to the sea son. Over one hundred attended the dance for which music was fur nished by George Warner's band. The advisorv board served re- frashments of cake and punch. Surprise Shower Held Thursday For Gontys Mr. and Mrs. George Terrell and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Farra were hosts Thursday evening for a surprise shower for Mr. and . E. Gonty at the Gonty home. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Roice Fulleton, Mr. and Mrs. Ed McFadden, Mr. and Mrs. Clive Huston, the guests of honor and the hosts and hostesses. Pinochle was enjoyed during the evening with Mrs. Terrell and Mr. Farra holding high scores and Mr. Terrell and Mrs. Huston low. Refreshents were served at the close of the evening. Former Heppnerite Married In Spokane Mr. and Mrs. John Lane have returned from Spokane where thev attended the wedding ot Thelma Cummings, former Hepp ner resident, to Charles Blake. The ceremony was performed New Year's Eve at the home of the groom's sister. The couple will be at home at North 2605 Stone, Spokane. Dinner Party Honors Birthday Tuesday Lynn Wright entertained with a dinner party Tuesday December 28 honoring Ronald Haguewood on his birthday. Members present were Mrs. Lucy Rodgers, Mrs. Sara Mc Namer, Miss Lulu Hager, Miss Leta Humphreys, Mrs. Floyd Jones, Mrs. Ike Cole, Mrs. J. O. Turner, Mrs. Lucy Peterson and he hostess. Back to work is the one thine planned for everyone with sem ester exams staring us in the eye before long. The journalism class is collect, ine ads savine the money to attend the all-coast press clinic in Seattle, Washington, February 25 and 26. Tommy Harmon, the sport director of KNX, Hollywood, and nationally-known for his radio and television sport broad cast, will be the principal ban quet speaker. International song troubadour, Edo Lubich, presented Heppner hich with a National Assembly with his songs and guitar of pop ular, ballad and folk tunes. Mr. L. L. Robbins, agricultural teacher and his Ag class plan on seeing the Union Pacific agricul ture improvement car in Hermis- ton January 12. The Union Pa cific sets aside an amount of money each year to be used in experimentation with railroad cars to improve agricultural con ditions. This year the car im provements are for beef produc tion. All farmers and Ag classes in near communities are urged to attend. All English classes plan on taking an English test this week to see how a person rates indi vidually with other students in the nation. Other classes taking this Kansas test are physics, gen eral science, biology, general math, geometry, algebra and U. S. history. The social ec. class will only take a test on current events. Last year Jay Sumner received a scholarship letter, rating him one of the top one percent in the nation in Algebra. POMONA GRANGE TO MEET Pomona grange will meet Sat urday, Jan. 8 at Willows grange in lone starting at 10:30 a. m. Dinner will be served at noon and the public is invited to a program scheduled at 2 p. m. A fifth degree will not be put on as had been previously announced. Evening church service Is at 8:00.
