At the business meeting conduct ed by Mrs. Delmer Crawford, president, the unit decided to give $5 to the Vetaran's hospital in Walla Walla. To promote at tendance the group has been di vided into two units, one headed by Mrs. Cecil Thome and one by Mrs. John Eubanks. The group having the best attendance re cord at the meetings will be en tertained by the losing group. Mrs. Berl Akers and Mrs. Wal lace Matthews entertained the Maranatha club at the Akers home Wednesday Dec. 8 with a turkey dinner at noon and re 0 freshments in the afternoon. At the business meeting led by Mrs. Milton Morgan, president, the club voted to send a CARE pack age to a foreign country and to send money to the Children's Farm home In Corvallis. The members also discussed getting dossal curtains for the Commun ity church. Fancy work will be sold the year around at the Noel Dobyns home. At the P-TA meeting at the school house Wednesday evening Dec. 8 Lloyd Howton and Fredrick Martin gave reports on future ' school legislation that they heard discussed at a school meeting in Condon recently. Mrs. L. A. Mc Cape presented a pantimine, And Came Christmas, with the follow ing cast, Mrs. Bryce Keene, Mrs. Gordon White, Mrs. Lloyd How ton and Mrs. C. E. Brenner. Mrs. McCabe was the reader. At the business meeting Ray Heirnbigner gave the lunch room report. Mr. Howton told of the ball games here Dec. 17 and 18 the proceeds of which will go to the P-TA and it was voted to give treats to all at the annual pro gram Dec. 22. Refreshments were served from Tables decorated in the Christmas motif by Mrs. Har old Sherer, Mrs. Phil Emert, Mrs. Donald Heliker, Mrs. Donald Lin-' nell, Mrs. Herman Blettell, and ker Thursday Dec. 9 and made! She also gave a very interesting talk on her trip there. Mrs. Wallace Matthews enter tained the Three Links club of Bunchgrass Rebekah lodge at her home Saturday with a dinner at noon. At the business meeting the following officers were elect ed and installed for the coming year: Mrs. Fannie Griffith, chair man; Mrs. Wate Crawford, vice chairman; Mrs. E. R. Lundell, sec retary and treasurer. Mrs. Mary Swanson was outgoing chairman and also, the installing officer. She presented the club with a coffee pot. Mrs. Griffith chose the following as her helpers: Mrs. Cleo Drake, marshal; Mrs. Echo Palmateer, chaplain; Mrs. Ernest Heliker, guardian; Mrs; Cecil Thorne, relief; Mrs. Wallace Mat thews, fancy work and Mrs. Adon Hamlett, aprons. The club voted to give two $10 CARE packages to the I. O. 0. F. committee. A large crowd attended the pot luck dinner at the Rebekah hall Sunday evening. Movies were shown by Milton Morgan after the dinner. A silver offering was given to the I. 0. O. F. Home in Portland. The hall was decorated with a Christmas tree and other Christmas decorations. A Christmas party was given to the lower classes in the Com munity Sunday school Saturday afternoon in the basement of the church. Santa Claus treated them to candy canes, movies were shown, carols were sung and re freshments were served by the following teachers: Mrs. Milton Morgan, Mrs. David Rietmann, Mrs. A. A. Dec. 26 Sunday school and church services will be combined beginning at 10:30 a. m. Mrs. E. M. Baker held a 4-H cooking meeting at her home on Saturday. After the meeting a Christmas party was held. The Valby Lutheran church Missionary society held their an nual Christmas Caroling party at Martin. day Dec. 9 at the Community church basement. Jimmy Dona hugh received his Bobcat pin be fore he moved from town last week. All Scouts received their Pack and Den numerals for their uniforms. . The theme, Adventures in His tory, was worked out by Den one by telling about Admiral Byrd's second expedition to Antarctic as recorded by Paul Syle, a boy scout who acted as biojogist on hil second trip with Admiral Byrd. The boys made back ground scenery of Icebergs for their dog sledge made by them and pulled by 4 boys, Ralph Mar tin, Jerry Davidson, Ronnie Crab tree, Jimmy Howton. Junior Al len also in fitting costume, drove the sledge which was construct ed by the boys under the leader ship of Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Riley who moved to Tacoma. The next Den meeting will be Thurs day. Jan. 6 at the homes of the mothers. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Baker spent a few days last week in Pullman, Wash., where Mr. Baker attended a short stockman's course in the college there. They also visited their son Roland, a student there. Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Strodtman of Arlington spent last week with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Sam McMillan. Holmes Gabbert of Portland was a weekend visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Matthews.
