Ward, superintendent The Board of Education and the administration have made the fi nal plans for the Christmas vaca tion. The annual Christmas pro gram given by the grade school will be held in the old gym on Wednesday Dec. 22 at 8 p. m. School will be dismissed Thurs day, Dec. 23 at 3:30 p. m. and take up, again Jan. 3. The Friday Dec. 24 will be made up at a later date. It was on the county cal endar to teach this day and in order to make the number of day and to receive state money it is necessary to make up this day. A large crowd of enthusiastic followers went to the basketball game at Condon Saturday even ing. While our boys came out on the short end of the count they showed much promise. The cheer leaders and the cheering section did a very fine job. We are always grateful for the loyal ty of the people in the commun ity. ; Remember the game at Hepp ner Dec. 10 and at Arlington Dec. 11 also the P-TA gameshere on Dec. 17 and 18. Details "will fol low later. The county branch of the Ore gon Education Association had their Christmas dinner and party in Heppner Monday Dec. 6. Most of the lone teachers were present and enjoyed a very fine dinner and an informative evening. At the business meeting a discus sion was held concerning the fu ture reunciation for teachers. Ce cil Posey state O. E. A. secretary gave a very informative talk on social security and retirement for teachers. Heppner is to be con gratulated for their fine evening. The. high school band gave a very fine performance at the school Nov. 30 under the direc tion of Donald Springer. Refresh ments were served afterward by OKIWANITA CAMP FIRE GIRLS The Okiwanita Camp Fire Girls held a meeting at the Episcopal parish hall December 6. Mrs. Thomson gave us some leather to string our beads on. Then Rogena Wagner, our president, chose two girls to be on the game committee, they were Nancy Kay Moyer and Shir ley Van Winkle, These two girls are going to Mrs. Schmidt's house December 7 so she can help them get some games. Mrs. Thomson gave some of the girls the beads they had earned and gave back their notebooks. . Jeanne Schmidt showed us her jacket and told us what the de signs meant. Then Rogena told us we were going up to the Christian church to practice Christmas carols with the other group of Camp Fire Girls. She said we were going to sing carols a-t the hospital on December 17 about seven o'clock. We sang songs for about half an hour then Libby Van Schoiack gave us a piece of candy. The meeting was adjourned. Shirley Van Winkle, scribe. the band mothers. The band played for the arm Bureau meeting at the grange hall Dec. 7. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ferrell and daughters Judy and Nancy 1 were Thanksgiving guests of Mr. I Fcnell's sister and brother-in -law Mr. and Mrs. Jody Morrison at lone. Mr. Terrell's father, E. W.
