After a sumptous dinner the following program was given: a welcome poem by the great-grandchildren; a song by Janet and Corlyss Lun dell; a recitation by Billy Swan son; recitation by Gerry Swan son; a quartet by the young peo ple; a cornet solo by Denny Swan son; vocal solo by Odon Hamlett; piano trio, by Mrs. Algott Lundell and granddaughters, Karen and Cheryle Lundell solo by Cheryle Lundell; piano solo by Wallace Lundell an accordion solo by Jean Ann Swanson and group singing led by Mr. Hamlett. i Many relatives came from out 'of town for the occasion. Be dsides the families in lone were: Mr. and Mrs. Norman Swanson land family and Jean Richards of Portland ; Mr. and Mrs. hlmo Mc Millan of Salem; Mrs. Frank Hel ina and son bobby of Seattle; Mr. and Mrs. Warren Cruther and son, Lee, of Boring; Mr. and Ms. Ken neth Crutcher and children of Grtsham; Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Lundell and children of Portland; Mr. and Mrs. Harland Lundell and children of Boise, Idaho. After the square dancing the guests visited on into the evening and are looking forward to com- again ircAi Funeral services were held for Frank Engelman Nov. 24 at the Community church with Al fred Shirley officiating. Mrs. Lucy Peterson sang Crossing the Bar and In A Garden, accompan ied by Mrs. Earl Blake. The pall bearers were Milton Morgan, James Barnett, E. W. Bristow, Harlan McCurdy Jr., Norton Lun dell and Earl McCabe. Interment was in the Pettys cemetery and Creswick and Seuell Mortuary had charge of arrangements. Relatives attending the funeral from a distance were Gene En gelman of Spokane, Mr. and Mrs. Esper Hansen, Mrs. Zena Ewing and daughter, and Mr. and Mrs. Nailer of Portland; Mr. and Mrs. John Turner of Baker; Miss Ruby Ann Rietmann and Gilbet Petteys of Pendleton; Mrs. Mary Pfeiffer of Walla Walla and Cpl. Billy Joe Rietmann of Fort Lewis. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Ball and family spent Thanksgiving with the daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Steven Loy. of La Grande. Mr. and Mrs. Horace White of Washington were visitors at the home of his brother, T. N. White last week. They were on their way to California. Little Trudy Ritchie of Her miston has been staying with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Lindstrom. Mr. -and Mrs. Robert Rietmann and son spent Sunday with rela tives in Hermiston. Mrs, Gordon White and child ren spent the weekend in Port land. Le Roy Brenner of Enterprise spent the weekend here. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jepsen en tertained at a family reunion at their home Thanksgiving. Mrs. Clara Kincaid entertained Mr. and Mrs. Ed Buschke and Mrs. Mabel Cotter at her home on Thanksgiving. Henry Clark and son Lowell, are visiting relatives in Los Ange les. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Voruz of Portland and their granddaughter Sharon Voruz of La Grande, were guests of their niece and family, Mr. and Mrs. Omar Rietmann last week. They were on their way to La Grande to take their niece home. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Esteb of Ta coma visited his brother, Sam Esteb last week. Mr. and Mrs. Earl McKinney and sons spent last week in Port land where her father, Oscar Rug gles, is ill in a hospital. Dinner guests at the Marion Palmer home Thanksgiving were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Pettyjohn and family of Arlington, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sherer and family, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pettyjohn and fam ily of lone and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pettyjohn and son of The Dalles. Recent guests at the Marion Palmer home were his sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Har rison of Cascade Locks. Mrs. Ida Coleman and daugh ters, Anne Belle and Mrs. Bert Williams and her daughters spent last week in Portland with rela tives. Alice and Judy Mason visited their parents in Portland last week. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Buschke left for Los Angeles Tuesday to visit their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Buschke. Dates to remember: Dec. 4 Square dance at Legion hall by the auxiliary. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lieuallen and Mr. and Mrs. Robert DeSpain and son Bobby Lee, spent Thanksgiv ing with Mr. and Mrs. John Bray in Hermiston. Services were held in the Valby Lutheran church Sunday in Gooseberry with Rev. Ed Svend sen of Corvallis officiating. He was the guest of the Henry Peter sons while here. Thanksgiving guests at the Ted Palmateer home were Miss Ce celia Healy of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Healy and children, Mr. and Mrs. Harry O'Donnell of Heppner, Mrs. Annie Healy and son Tom, and Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Healy and daughters of But ter Creek. Mr and Mrs. Harry Yarnell and son Alton, spent Thanksgiving with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Yarnell in Van couver, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ray spent last week in Husum and Lyle, Wash. Their son-in-law, Lester Goodrich, has been a patient in a hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Thome spent Thanksgiving with her sister, Mrs. Carl Grassi in Walla Walla. Weekend guests at the Thornes were her mother and brother, Mrs. Mary Fc.i and son Ben, from Ida ho. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Heimbigner and children spent last week with his brother and family in Yak ima. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Halvorsen and children spent last week with his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Halvorsen in Med ford. Mrs. Wilbur Akers and children spent Thanksgiving with her mother, Mrs. F. L. Kearns, in Independence. Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Martin and children spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Martin in West Linn. The hostesses were Mrs. Elmer Holtz, Mrs. John Eubanks, Mrs. Herbert Ekstrom and Mrs. Delmer Crawford. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan were Portland and Seattle visi tors last week. Pvt. and Mrs. Harlan Crawford left for Olympia Saturday. His mother, Mrs. Wate trawiora ac companied them as far as Port land where she will visit rela tives. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Kincaid and daughter spent Thanksgiving with relatives in Lyle, Wash. Mrs. Ruby Nichols, Mrs. Roger Kincaid and Lewis Padberg took Mrs. Nichols son, Lyle, to Pen dleton Sunday to catch the plane for Salem where he attends the blind school. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Rigby and family were Pendleton visitors on Friday of last week. Thanksgiving guests at the A. A.
