Jones obser ed their 45th wedding anniver 8ry Sunday afternoon November .4 with a tea given in their hon ir by their children, at the Christ -n church parlors. . Hosts were their three sons and laughters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jarcel Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd ones and Mr. and Mrs. Paul ones of Heppner; three daughters jid two sons-in- law, Miss Loma lae Jones, Portland; Mr. and Jrs. N. 0. Washburn, Coos Bay jid Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Gray al, Dayton, Washington. Eleven f fourteen grandchildren were resent. A three tiered wedding cake haped in a Greek cross and top ed with triple wedding bells and Ink roses and white candelabra entered the tea table. Pouring during the afternoon rere Mrs. Frank S. Parker, Mrs. Clyde R. Nokes, of Albany, sister of Mrs. Jones, Mrs. E. R. Huston Mrs. Roy Neill and Mrs. Earl Soward. Presiding at the punch bowl were Mrs. Lee Scrivner, Mrs Frank E. Parker and assisting with the serving were Mrs. Pearl Devine, Mrs. Lillian Miles and Mrs. D. H. Jones, Sr. A musical program during the the reception included a piano solo bv Sandra Jones, grand daughter of the honored couple; vocal solos bv Oliver Creswick ac comnanied bv Mrs. J. O. Turner and vocal numbers by Mrs. Fred Hoskins. Jr.. and Mrs. Robert Walker both accompanied by Miss Marilvn Munkers. Miss Munkers also played piano se lections. Ruth chapter No. 32, OES tives that attended. Mr. and Mrs. Jones were mar ried November 14, 1909 at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Miller in the Eight Mile district. Following the wed ding they settled at their home three miles south of Heppner where they now live. They are well known in this area as wheat and livestock ranchers. Past Noble Grands Have Annual Dinner Twenty members were present to enjoy the annual dinner of the Past Noble Grands of the Rebe kah lodge at the home of Mrs. Pearl Devine Monday evening. Secret pals were revealed dur ing the evening and new officers elected were president, Mrs. John Bergstrom; vice president, Mrs. Frank Davidson; and secretary treasurer, Mrs. Cornett Green. Mrs. Sara McNamer was hon ored as the incoming Past Noble Grand. Miss Beverly Bradshaw, home extension agent, led a discussion on food buying. Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting. (GT photo) j"0 f f 1 Rhea Creek HEC Has Film For Program The Rhea Crook home econo mics club mot Thursday Novem ber IS to elect the following offi cers: Mrs Alfred Lovgren, chair man; Mrs. Elmer Palmer, vice chairman and Mrs. Harold Wright secretary -treasurer. Following the meeting Miss Rosellen Sehmid of Pendleton, home economist for the Oregon Wheat League, showed a film entitled "Give Us This Day", which features the Floyd Root family of Wasco. Miss Sehmid also brought a prepared casserole dish made of pilaff which was served to those present. About 2li members and guests attended. The club is planning a Christmas party. Soroptimist Club Has Thanksgiving Program Miss Leta Humphreys had charge of the Thanksgiving pro gram for the Soroptimist club at their noon meeting Thursday at O'Donnell's. She chose appropriate poems and had each member read one and there was group singing ac companied by Mrs. C. C. Car miehnel at the piano. Birthday cuke was served in honor of Mrs. Clara B. Gertson, Mrs. Grace Nickerson and Mrs. Lucy Rodgors. There will be no meeting this week because of Thanksgiving. The next mooting will be the business mooting on December 2. o Whats Trumps Club Meets Wednesday Mrs. Harlan McCurdy was a guest at the Whats Trumps bridge club when it met Wednesday af ternoon at the home of Mrs. Gene Ferguson. Dessert preceded the playing and those present were Mesdanies Tom Wilson, P. W. Mahoney, Raymond Ferguson, James Thom son, L. D. Tibbies, Orviile Smith, Oscar George, Harold Cohn, Earle Blake, Robert Penland, Leonard Schwarz, Harlan McCurdy and the hostess. High score was hold by Mrs. Blake, second high was Mrs. George and third Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Mahoney and Mrs. penland tied for low score.
