The maid of honor was Miss Mary Lou Roberts, Redmond, Ore., who wore a white eyelet dress over orchid and carried a nosegay of white marguerite daisies with orchid ribbons. Her headpiece was white with orchid flowers. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Mar vin Soward, Austin, Tex., and Miss Elsie Welch, San Pedro, Cal. They were dressed like the maid of honor. The best man was Fred Ne moedo, of Whittier, Calif, and the ushers were Wayne Soward, bro ther of the bride and Bill Ne moedo of Whittier. Gerre Hancock of Lubbock, Tex. played the organ preceeding the ceremony and accompanied Mar vin Soward who sang '0 Perfect Love", and then after bringing in the bride he sang "A Wedding Prayer" and "The Lord's Prayer" as a prayer at the close of the ceremony. The bride's mother wore a powder blue dress with a pink hat and a pink orchid. A reception was held in the church parlors which was deco rated in white and orchid iris. Tthe bride's two great-aunts from Sumner, Wash., Mrs. George Primley and Mrs. J. A. Beckman presided at the. tea table. Mrs. Earl Blackburn, Springfield, aunt of the bride cut the wedding cake after the bride and groom had cut the first piece. Mrs. Alva Fere bee, another aunt from Prine ville and Mrs. Fred Nemoedo- of Whittier were in charge of the gifts. Miss Barbara Warren of Heppner was in charge of the guest book. Assisting about the rooms dur ing the reception were Mrs. Joe Hughes, Mrs. Theta Stratton, Mrs. Frank S. Parker, Mrs. Ealor Hus ton, Mrs. Willard J. Warren, Mrs. Robert C. Walker, Mrs. Fred Hos kins, Jr. and Miss Ida Sue Strat ton. For going away the bride wore an orchid knitted suit with matching hat and a white purse. After a short wedding trip in Ore gon, the couple will make their home in Whittier, Calif, where Mr. Greenhalgh is assistant pas tor at the Christian church. Bridge Luncheon Held For Soroptimist Fund Mrs. W. C. Collins, Mrs. Oscar George, Mrs. Robert Penland and Mrs. Grace Nickerson entertained with a bridge luncheon at the Nickerson home Friday afternoon. Proceeds from the event were for the Soroptimist scholarship fund. Eight tables were in play and prizes won by Mrs. Orville Smith, high; Mrs. J. J. CASE Dinner Honors Palmer Sorliens The Rev. and Mrs. J. Palmer Sorlien were complimented with a dinner in honor of their silver wedding anniversary by about 125 members of the Rebekah and Odd Fellows lodges and friends Wednesday night at the Odd Fel lows hall. Reverend Sorlien, for mer minister of the Methodist church, has a pastorate in Port land and is also state grand war den in the Odd Fellows lodge. They spent last week visiting friends in Heppner. A program following the pot lubk dinner included a talk by the Rev. Lester Boulden; three vocal solo by Marvin Soward, ac companied by Gerre Hancock; and banjo solos by Roy Quacken bush, accompanied by Mrs. Clive Huston. The Sorliens were pre sented a gift and a cake baked by Mrs. J. J. Nys. The committee in charge were Mrs. C. W. McNamer, Mrs. Lucy Rodgers, Mrs. John Bergstrom, Mrs. Rufus Piper, Mrs. Cleve No land, Mrs. Alex Green, Miss Est her Bergstrom, Miss Marilyn Bergstrom, Tom Wells and John Wightman. Flag Day Observed At Elks Party Special ceremonies in observ ance of Flag Day were held at the Elks lodge Thursday night with lodge officers participating. A dinner preceded the services and a special ladies night followed. Nlnteen tables of cards were in play with pinochle prizes going to Mrs. William Labhart, first; and Mrs. Verner Troedson, second. The bridge prizes were won by Mrs. James Driscoll, high; and Mrs. Clarence Rosewall, second. Mrs. Del Jordan and Mrs. J. J. Nys won the door prize. Card party hostesses were Mrs. Robert Dobbs and Mrs. Fidelis Unrein. In charge of the dinner were Mrs. Theta Stratton. and Mrs. Lloyd Harshman. ! Following the services the Altar Society served breakfast to the children who attended the religious church school the past' two weeks.
