Matt In Boardman Ceremony BOARDMAN A quiet "but very pretty wedding was solemnized Saturday May 29 at 11:00 a. m. wheh Miss Evelyn Miller, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miller became the bride of Sgt. Paul John Matt. The Rev. A. J. Ware, Oregon City officiated at the home. The bride's attendant was her sister-in-law, Mrs. Bill Miller, and Bill Miller was best man for the groom. The bride chose for her dress a white street length, with white carnations. Mrs. Miller also wore street length white background with corsage of red roses. Others attending the wedding were the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miller, Boardman; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gaede, Mr. and Mrs. Millard Chase, Gresham; two friends of Mrs. Matts, The Dal les. Mrs. Matt has been a teacher in The Dalles school system the past two years and Sgt. Matt Is stationed at the Bombing Air Base, Boardman. . After a week at the beach the young couple Is at home in Board-man. Shower Given For Mrs. James Peterson Mrs. James Peterson was guest of honor at a stork shower given for her by Mrs. Stephen Truko-' sitz, Mrs. James Allen, Mrs. Floyd Sayers and Mrs. C. J. O'Donnell on Thursday, June 3 in the basement of the Catholic church. Guests present were Mesdames Gertrude Applegate, Ray Smith, James Monahan, Lucy Peterson, James Sumner, Cal Sumner, Ag nes Currin, Alex Thompson, Allen Case, Harry O'Donnell Jr., Wil-' Ham Gentry, Harley Young, Phil Blakney, Tom Wilson and Miss Marguerite Glavey. Birthday Dinner Held In Pendleton For Morrow County Man A birthday dinner honoring; Walter H. Farrens on his 73rd birthday was given at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ernest Par-! rish in Pendleton on May 21. Members of the family were thej guests. Mr. Farrens has been in Pendleton since December, with a heart condition, but is able to be! nn now. PETERSON JEWELER 15 Tables In Play At Annual Birthday Party Of Episcopal Women Eleven tables of bridge and four of pinochle were in play Saturday afternoon at the par ish house of All Saints Episcopal church, when the auxiliary enter tained with the annual invita tional birthday dessert. Mrs. W. C. Collins won high in bridge and Mrs. William Lab hart high in pinochle. The door prize was won by Mrs. Robert Gammell. Mrs .A. D. McMurdo and Mrs. Jos. J. Nys were chairmen and they were assisted by Mrs. Earl Blake and Mrs. John Bergstrom. Wedding Date Set For Marie Soward Rev. and Mrs. Earl L. Soward, pastor of the Christian Church, announce the wedding date of their daughter Marie of San Pedro, California to Mr. Vern Greenhalgh of Whittier, Califor nia, to be Friday evening June 11 at 8:00 p. m. in the Christian church at Heppner. Pinochle Party Held At Lowe Home Friday Mrs. Robert Lowe entertained at her home Friday afternoon I with a dessert-pinochle party. Guests were Mrs. Walter Bee-; ket, Mrs .Frank Hamlin, Mrs. Earl Fvans. Mrs. Rov Orwick, Mrs. Oren Wright, Mrs. Fred Mankin .and Mrs. Ed LaTrace. Mrs. Orwick received high score for the afternoon, Mrs. Wright, second and Mrs. Mankin received low. Five Persons Honored At Dinner Party O'Donnell's Wagon Wheel was the scene Tuesday evening June 1 for a dinner party honoring Mrs. B. G. Sigsbee on her birthday, the wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. V. R. Runnion and Dr. and Mrs. Oscar Borg who are visiting here from Portland. Present were Mr. and Mrs. V. R. Soroptimists Plan Installation Party The regular monthly business meeting of the Soroptimist club was held at O'Donnell's Thurs-j day noon. Committee reports were given' and Mrs. W. O. George, Mrs. Ro- bert Penland, Mrs. Homer Hager, Mrs. Philip Blakney and Miss Leta Humphreys were appointed as the committee to have charge of the installation party to be held in July. ' Mrs. W. O. George gave some of the highlights of the main ad dress at the Olympia conference held in April. . A guest was Cathy Roscoe, a granddaughter of Mrs. Floyd Adams. Parkers Celebrate 25th Anniversary On Tuesday June 1, Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Parker celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a dinner at O'Donnell's Wagon Wheel. Guests present had all been guests at the wedding, they were Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Heydcn of Stanfieid who were bridesmaid and best man, Mr. and Mrs Har lan Devin of Condon and Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Parker. After the dinner the party went to the Parker home where the evening was spent visiting. Corthell-Tapanainen Wedding Date Told Word was received in Heppner this week telling of the coming marriage of Miss Martha Tapa nainen, former Morrow county health nurse, and Robert Corthell who was recently " transferred from Heppner to Coos Bay. He is with the state game commission. The wedding will be held July 3 at Messiah Lutheran church in Portland and the couple will live I in Coos Bay. Miss Tapanainen feft here last October to take a similar posi ! tion in Klamath Falls. Tuesday evening will be the concert by Marvin Soward and Gerre Hancock. 4-H Club News GOOD LITTLE WORKERS June 5, 1954 at Leann Tadberg's home, The Good Little Workers sewing club had their 8th meet ing, working in this project book. Ann Baker and Judy Morgan worked on the drawstrings for drawstring aprons and Karen Lundell, Leann Padberg and Linda Heimbignor worked on their skirts. Our club leader, Betty Carlson, was sick so our assistant leader Ruth McCabe, helped us with the things we had trouble with. We've had eight meetings this season and are going to have two more. The next meeting will pro bably be at Ann Baker's house on June 23. Leann served apple pie, ice cream and hot chocolate. Linda Ileimbigner, reporter Miss Jane Rodgers of Seattle has been visiting at the home of her sisters, Mrs. Sara MeNamer and Mrs. Lucy Rodgers during the past week.
