Start ing this program were 2 .solos by Mrs. T. E. Peterson of -Heppner. accompanied bv Mrs. C. ('. Car- miehael, two pantomines by the! Lexington high school girls, j which were most .cleverly done; a trumpet duet by Jerry Vanover end Dennis Doheny accompanied. by Betty Messenger; some group singing which was followed by the business meeting at which time another director was elect ed, this being Clayton Davis from Pendleton, and a secretary, Mrs. Dob Kilkenny. After the meeting adjourned a dance was held at i the fair pavilion in Heppner. McMillan, and Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Jones and children and a caller in the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Oris Padberg. Judge and Mrs. Will Nonlean of Baker were overnight guests one night last week at the Newt O'Harra home. Mr. L. G. Wetzel returned home; ast week trom 1'omanci, wnere his wife underwent a major oper ation at St. Vincent's hospital in that city. She will stay for a while with an aunt, Mrs. Drown ing in the city. Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Breeding spent Sunday in Spray and en joyed some fine fishing. Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Edwards from Kphrata were Lexington visitors Saturday and Sunday. They accompanied by Mr. and Mrs .Lon Edwards motored to Burns to visit Mr. and Mrs. Al Edwards. Mr. and Mrs. Boh Dickenson were Montana visitors last week. Mr. and Mrs. Myron McCarl were weekend visitors in Lexing ton. Mr. and Mrs. Bob McMillan of McMinnville were visitors over the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Frances McMillan. Word was received here that Rudolph Klinger anderwent ma jor surgery in the Hermiston hos tal one day last week. Mrs. Andy Davidson and fam ily of Arlington was visiting at the Bob Davidson home Monday The first and second grades were entertained by some of the mothers Friday afternoon on the school house lawn. Pendleton visitors last week were: Mrs. O.' W. Cutsforth and Sharon, Mrs. W. E. McMillan, Mrs. C. C. Jones, Mrs A. F Majeske and daughters Pat and Audrey, and Mrs Gene Majeske and Mrs. Ken Marshall. Bill Livingston and Don and Earl Miller were Saturday visit ors at Lexington from La Grande. P. T. A. held their regular meet ing at the school house last Tuesday night. The program con- isted of a short but fine band concert by the beginners band directed by Mr. Raskin of lone with the following children tak ing part Beverley, Dora Sue and Bobby Davidson, Charlene Jones, Joger Doherty, Russell Dolven, and Jerry Vanover. Dora Sue ilayed a sax solo, and duets were played by Charlene Jones and Beverley Davidson, who played clarinet, and Dennis Doherty and Jerry Vanover trumpet duets. Later installation of officers was held, and refreshments were ser ved. Mr. and Mrs. James Vanover attended an O. E. A. meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Richards were called to La Grande Sunday by the illness of his mother, who! is a patient in a hospital in that city. Miss Howe and Mrs. Nita Grey were hostesses to a pinochle party at the Grey home one day last week. Those attending were: Mr. and Mrs. James Vanover, Mr. and Mrs .Delmar Richards, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Bates, Miss Bloom, and Joel Engleman of lone, with prizes being won by Mrs. Grey, high; Mr. Richards, low; and the traveling, Miss Bloom. Mr. and Mrs. Don Campbell andj daughters spent Sunday in Lai Grande where they visited with) her parents who just moved there from Forest Grove. Adolf Majeske is at home after major surgery in St. Anthony's hospital in Pendleton. Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Leach and John Leach and Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Marquardt were visitors at Mitchell on Sun clay, where they visited Mr. Mes senger. 4-H Club News THE GOOD LITTLE WOHKERS The Good Little Workers 4-H club met at the home of Mrs. Milton Morgan May 15 with their leaders Mrs. Merle Baker and Mrs. Roland Bergstrom demon strating cooking a complete breakfast. The members learned to set the table and serve the meal. Marlene Griffin was chosen to go to 4- II summer camp, and Marilyn Mor gan as alternate. There were 5 members and one guest present.
