Shirley spoke on "The Responsibility of the Community for Adult Guid ance." United Nation Week was ob served by Mrs. Markham Baker showing pictures of the A. C. W. W. conference at Toronto, Canada. Mrs. Noel Dobyns presented Hallowe en games for everyone, which were very much enjoyed. The school orchestra played a few numbers accompanied by Mrs. Elvln Miller at the piano. Mrs. Blaine Isom, regional vice president was a guest. Programs for the year were dis tributed. Hostesses were Mrs. Lawrence Jones, Mrs. Vern Dalzell, Mrs. Van Hubbard, Mrs. Wallace Mat thews, and Mrs. Raymond Lun-dell. "X mm or ON THE MAT in tonight's wrestling matches at the Heppner high school gym will be this feminine grappler, one of the four to appear on the card. The only male exhibition will pit Gorgeous George Shane and Rowdy Bill Cox.' at the Igo Grange hall near Con don Saturday night. Gene Heliker is visaing his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ern est Heliker and his father, Donald Heliker for a few days. Many from here are in the mountains elk hunting. A Hallowe'en party was given at the Grange hall Saturday night by grange members and the teachers of the school. In the Mr. and Mrs. Edward Phumph rey of California were guests' of ' returned Mr. ana Mrs. KranKiin Lindstrom this weekend. Mrs. Phumphrey was the former Faye Bucknum Guests on Saturday evening at the Phil Emert home were Mr. and Mrs. Merle Baker and fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lawler. Mrs. Tad Miller and children are spending a few days at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wate Crawford. Mr. Miller is elk hunting. Mrs. John Clerf and children of Kittitas, Washington were visit ing Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jepsen a few days last week. Mrs. Harry Yarnell and son Al ton are spending a few days in Portland and Vancouver. Milton Morgan, Edmund Bris tow, Lloyd Morgan, Adon Ham lett, Delbert Emert, Jim Mallen and Arthur Stefani attended the Hermiston vs The Dalles football game Friday night at Hermiston. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Morgan spent Tuesday in The Dalles. Mrs. Jack Healy and children of Heppner are spending a few days visiting her mother, Mrs. Ida Coleman. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Helena and son, Johnnie, of Seattle, Washing ton spent a few days last week visiting her mother, Mrs. Anna Lindstrom and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Bcrgstrom ast week from a trip which took them to Salt Lake, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas and San Francisco. Mr. Fredrick Martin is in Port land this week on business. Mr .and Mrs. Don Avery and three boys of Portland were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Ekstrom this weekend. Mrs. Herbert Ekstrom gave a birthday party Saturday for her son, Roland, who was 8 years old. There were 22 children present. Several from here attended the wedding of Rita Cox and Jack Sumner in Heppner Sunday. Pvt. Harlan Crawford and Pvt. Billy Joe Rietmann left last Tues day for Ft. Lewis where they will be stationed. Pvt. Bill Hubbard returned to camp in New Jersey Mr. and Mrs. David Raskin and Mary, spent Friday and Saturday in Portland where Mr. Raskin was a representative from the Morrow County Education Association to the OEA classroom teachers con ference.
