Heppner, Gazette Times, Thursday, October 29, 1 9.53 Page 5 Social Happenings . j Annual Buck Burger Feed Bin Held by 1 Wranglers Saturday The first annual Wranglers , , "Buck Burger Feed Bin" was held Saturday night at the Wranglers' "! pavilion. , i Cornett Green donated a deer he shot this season for the "buck ; burgers" and the rest of the din- ; ner was potluck. J During the dinner a "Liars Contest" was held. Leslie Grant was chosen winner after he stood up and said, "I haven't a thing to say." Following the dinner a pro gram was presented with Leslie Grant acting as master of cere monies. Entertainment numbers presented were "Wilson's West erners", an orchestra directed by Jim Wilson and composed of Marvin Wightman, Sandra Lan ham, Skip Ruhl, Dick Ruhl, Peggy : Wightman, Jay Sumners and David Cox; two readings were given by Delores Easter entitled 'The Worm" and "The Skunk"; two harmonica solos by Eb Hughes, a reading by Mrs. Fran ces Orwick; Mrs. Earl MeKin ney of lone played the accordian; and songs were sung by the "Buck Board Four" consisting of Jeff Carter. Nineteen Tables in Play at Soroptimists Annual Card Party The Soroptimist Club held their annual card party and dutch auction Monday night at the Catholic church. With nineteen tables of cards in play Dr. Wallace Wolff re ceived high score in bridge and Mrs. Gene Ferguson won second prize. Pinochle prizes were won by Mrs. Robert Dobbs first and Mr. J. R. Huffman received sec ond prize. Mrs. Wallace Wolff received the door prize and Leslie Grant won the basket which was up fur dutch auction consisting of a complete chicken dinner. Mrs. Edmond Gonty was chair man of the affair assisted by the members, of the Soroptimist Club. Proceeds from the party wil be ujcd lo sponsor the annual teen age liayride Hallowe'en night. o Soroptimists Hear Piano Selections Miss Pat Lauer of McKenzie Bridge, Oregon entertained the Soroptimist club Thursday noon October 22 at O'Donnell's .with two piano selections. In honor of the visitation of Freeman Allen, of Pendleton, the District Deputy to the Grand Exalted Ruler. Oregon Northeast, the Elks Lodge No. 358 held a steak dinner at O'Donnell's res taurant Thursday evening pre ceeding the regular business meeting. All past Exalted Rulers and present officers of the lodge were invited. In a drive to obtain new mem bers 80 persons were present for the dinner, program and dance. Robert Ferrell was master of ceremonies for the program dur ing which Jack Webb, president of the Pendleton Jaycees was the speaker. Mrs. Robert Ferrell, the JayCee-Etle president and Phil Blakney, president of the Jay Cees both gave resumes of their respective group's activities. Fol lowing the program a dance was held. Guests present were Messrs and Mesdames Leslie Grant, Howard Reed, Homer Hager, Stanley Holm, Marian Huggett, Vivian White James.
