Soroptimists Hear Exchange Student Tell Of Bolivian Life At the Soroptimist luncheon Thursday October 15, Mrs. Melvin Piper, Morrow county chairman of the International Karm Youth Exchange program, introduced Jack Wells of Independence, Ore gon. He was an exchange stu dent to Bolivia and has recently returned. He talked of the customs of the country and showed authentic costumes. He then showed beautiful- colored slides, showing the life and farm practices of that country. Guests were Mrs. Maud Cass well, Mrs. Howard Reed, Mrs. C. A. Mrs. Rieth came to Oregnn when she was 4 years old, the family settling near what is now known as the town of Rieth in Umatilla county. Triple Links Club Meets Monday A regular business meeting of the Triple Link was held at the home of Mrs. N. D. Bailey, Mon day evening. Mrs. Adelle Bailey was elected to the office of president to fill the unexpired term of Mrs. Elsie Ayers who resigned. Mrs. N. D. Bailey and Mrs. Charles Beckett were hostesses for the evening. A potluck supper in honor of Cpl. John L. Smith was held at the American Legion Hall, on Saturday, October 17. Mayor J. O. They took his grandmother, Mrs. Anna Lind strom home with them for a visit. She will then go to Seattle to visit relatives. Rietmann's orchestra played at the homecoming at F. O. C. K. at La Grande this weekend. The first and second room mothers gave a party Friday of last week in honor of the teacher, Mrs. James Mallon's birthday. Oorothy Dobyns had to have ti stitches' taken in her nose which was injured when she fell from a horse Saturday. afterwards. lluddleston guests over Boardman Garden Club Sees Slides The Boardman Garden Club met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Leo Root, with Mrs. I. T. Pearson and Mrs. Olive Atteberry as hostesses. The main entertain ment was color slides shown by Mr. Ray Anderson. Many were slides of local scenes, the ones of Mrs. Root's flower garden being very pretty and colorful. Roll call was a "Woman in the News". Plans were completed for the party which is to be at the home of Mrs. Glenn Carpenter Monday evening at 8 p. m. The next meeting is to be at the home of Mrs. Nathan Thorpe with Mrs. Z. J.
