A. Shirley of fieiatintr. After the services break fast was served in the basement of the Community Church by the Maranatha club. At 10 a. m. a program was given at the Com munity church which consisted of a solovox prelude by Mrs. Frederick Martin, a welcome ad dress by Adon Hamlett, superin tendent of the Sunday school, songs, recitations, readings and exercises by beginners, primary and junior classes, I hose naving recitations were Mariorie and Terry O'Connor, Pamela McCabe, Jerry Stefani. Cheryl Lunaeii sang a solo accompanied by Karen Lundell and Mildred See hafer sang 'In a Garden' accom- nanied bv Mrs. L. L. Howton. Mrs. Charles O'Connor was the pianist for the other music. The teachers were Mrs. Walter Roberts, Mrs Roy Lindstrom, Mrs. Raymond Lundell. Mrs. Ralph Crum, Mrs David Rietmann and Mrs. Milton Morean. Jualianna Rietmann announced the program. The ser mon 'Assured Assurance' by Rev. Shirlev followed the program. In the evening the-Junior cnoir led bv Mrs Claude Riley and ac companied by Mrs. Howton sang the fol owine songs: Living for Jesus, ile Arose,, He Lives, Master the Tempest is Raging, No one Ever Cared for Me, The Uld KUg ged Cross, An Evening Prayer and Dear Lord Forgive, xnose sing ing solo and duet parts were Mildred Seehafer, Peggy Allen, Judv Howton, Virginia Griffin and Larry Rietmann. Others in the choir were Garv-Brenner, Ger ald and Kieth Rea, Ernest Drake, Melvin Martin, Carol McCoy, Sue and Ann Belle Coleman, Mardine Baker, Nina Griffin and Marlene Griffin and Bonnie Crum. Cookies, punch and coffee were served after the evening program. Mrs. Bruce Keene was eiectea chairman of the lone Extension Unit at a meeting in the Com mimitv church basement Friday ........ - April 3 Other officers elected were Mrs. Harold Sherer, vice chairman and Mrs. Frederick, secretarv-treasurer. At the busi ness meeting conducted by tne chairman. Mrs. A. L. McCabe, committees were, appointed to serve at the Home Makers Festi val May 5. Mrs. Omar Rietmann talked on the A. C. w. w. pre- ceedinc the meeting Mrs. E. M. Baker and Mrs. Earl McKinney were loaders on Buffet Meals. A lmffpr meal was served at noon consisting of scalloped chicken, Grean beans, relishes, jelly, saiaci, rolls, bread, dessert and tea and coffee. Mrs. Maureen Nelson, high school instructor and seve ral high school girls attended the mpptinc The leaders gave in structions on how to serve the meals. The next meeting will be April 30 on out door meals A stork shower was given in honor of Mrs. Merle Baker at the Mrs. Delmar Crawford on Thursday afternoon. She received many lovely gifts. Shirley left Monday to attend a Congrega tional ministers retreat at Nel- scott this week. They will, also, visit their sons at The Dalies ana Portland. Mrs. Harvey has been to Port land to be with her daughter, Mrs. Larry Fletcher, who has been ill. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Wade and children of Walla Walla spent 'the weekend with his sister. Mrs. -Etta Bristow and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Robert DeSpain and son spent Easter with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Loy Lieu- ! alien near Gresham. Mr and Mrs. Corliss McLeod 'moved into their house on third ictmnt last week that they pur chased from Mrs. Idus Raines of Forest Grove. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Leslie Grant of Heppner also went. Ronald Baker, student at wnsn inert State college is spending the Easter vacation at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. h. u. Baker. Ronald was one oi ine list of 811 students at the college honored for class proficiency. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Cannon and crm Tprrv. spent Easter Sunday with his mother, Mrs. Ada Can non in Heppner. Maunday services were observed at the Community Church on Thursday evening of last week. New members uniting with the church were Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Nelson, Carol McCoy, Mildred See hafer and Gory Brenner. Mrs. Clara Kincaid, who has been a member of Bunchgrass Re bekah lodge for 50 years, was presented with a corsage and had thP numerals on her Jewel changed to 50 at a meeting of the lodge Thursday evening of last week. She gave a talk on the parlv Havs of the lodge. Dele gates to the Renekah Assemoiy in Portland are Mrs. Ernest Heli ker and Mrs. Mary Swanson. Al ternates are Mrs. Echo Palmateer and Mrs. E. R. Lundell. Mrs. Heli ker was recommended as district deputy president. The lodge voted to give $10 toward the Uni ted Nations Pilgrimage float in the Rose Festival parade in Portland in June. There will be 11 members in Oregon to ride in it. Refreshments were served by Mrs Ida Coleman, Mrs.' Wate Crawford, Mrs. Ed Buschke and Mrs. Echo Palmateer. Mrs. Edna Yarnell of Portland spent Easter with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles O'Connor. Mrs. R. J. Heaton of Hood River is visiting at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Henry Osibov. Mrs. II. O. Ely Is convalescing at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wallace Matthews. She plans to come to her home in town this week. Mrs. Bethena Lord returned to the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. E. Melena last week after being a patient In the hospital in Heppner. Mrs. Donald Heliker and daugh ter, Sharon of Walla Walla spent the spring vacation here. Gene Heliker of Lexington, also was a visitor at the Heliker home. Ernest Heliker Is building a wood house on his property. Noel Sarver of Kennewick, Wash., was a visitor here Sunday.
