Construction of the pool should begin within the next few weeks. ! The board approved plans to add an agriculture and shop teacher to next year's staff at the regular meeting on Thursday night. The board also approved and sent State Representative Allen Tom a letter requesting that he study the possibility of changing the County High School Law so Joint Districts in Gilliam County may become part of Dis trict No. 35 for high school pur poses as well as for Elementary school purposes. Preliminary study for next years budget was made and Mr. Osibov was re employed as Superintendent. Workmen from the Hampton Furniture Company of The Dalles laid asphalt tile floors on the downstairs halls of lone school building the past weekend. Mr. Akers and Mr. Osibov had arran ged with the company to have this work done during vacation but the workmen were employed at other tasks during that time. They worked Saturday and Sun day to get all but the steps done. The Hampton Furniture Company was low bidder on the project at $265.72. The whole board of District No. 35 attended the meeting with the Rural School Board at Heppner on Wednesday night. Everyone enjoyed the meeting and the dinner. School prospects were discussed with representatives of all districts in the county present The' problem of taxation in the Joint Districts of District No. 35 were presented to the Rural Board. O G. Breeding January 6. The assistant leader Joan Breeding helped Margaret and Charlene on assembling our sewing boxes, also we threaded different size needles. We held a lengthy dis cussion on the different sized needles and their useae. At this time we discussed why we should use the thimble. Janet and Anna Marie cut out their pattern for garment protec tors and decided on what they were going to make them out of, also decided to make their pro tectors and laundry bag to match. Our next meeting wil be Jan. 19 at 7:30 p. m. We are going to make our needle cases and our garment protectors. 0 OSC Forestry School Gets Grant to Study Fire Danger Ratings OREGON STATE COLLEGE- research grant of $2590 has been , development of a fire danger rat piven the Oreeon State colletre inS and scheduling of burning school of forestry for use in the development of a practical svs- tern for rating fire danger in slash burning and other logging operations.
