Donald Majeske, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Majeske is reported quite ill at his ranch home and will be unable to at tend school for some time. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Ramsey were New Years guests at the George Irven at Ordnance. Mr. and Mrs. Randy Lott were Portland visitors this week. Deanna Steagal returned to Pendleton to St. Joseph academy, Monday. . o Mm THE HAPPY SEW AND SEWS The Happy Sew and Sews met at the home of Vickie Barger on Dec. 20. We called the meeting and then opened the presents. Mrs. Bergstrom had a tew tnings ior .is and then we had refreshments. Our only visitor was Mrs. Walter Barger and Wally, her son. we had three absent at this meeting. The next meeting will be at Mrs. Bergstrom's, January 3. Canned evaporated milk helps extend the meat, and tomato soup is used in the sauce which gives the canned green beans that extra zip. licet I'attie 1 pound ground beef A cup evaporated milk 'M cup rolled oats U cup finely chopped onion, divided IVi teaspoons salt, divided A teaspoon pepper, divided To ground beef add evaporated milk, rolled oats, half of the onion, 1 teaspoon of the salt and half of the pepper; mix well. With wet hands shape meat mixture into 8 flat patties. Brown patties in hot fat in frying pan. Drain U cup liquid from beans; add to soup with vinegar, remain ing onion, salt and pepper; pour over patties. Cover and cook over very low heat 30 minutes. Remove patties to warm platter. Add green beans to sauce in skillet and heat beans to serving temperature. Arrange rice, in a ring around patties. Place green bean mixture around rice ring. YIELD: 4 servings. Dairy Association Plans Annual Meet Milk production and marketing will be examined by key men of the industry at the fifty-ninth an nual meeting of Oregon Dairy men s association at Oregon State college. January 13 and 14. R. VV. Morse, OSC dairy special ist and secretary of the associa tion, says representatives of dairy products processors and retail outlets will discuss current prob lems in Oregon's shifting dairy picture. This will include price of milk and butterfat content which have come in for much public discussion recently. Also of special interest will be the state's declining number of dairy cows which threatened the state with becoming a deficit dairy products area. R. S. Waltz Seattle, manager of the Consolidated Dairy t'ro ducts company, will discuss sub stitute dairy products at the first day morning session. S. Eugene Allen, Secretary- manager of the Oregon restaurant association, Portland, will exam ine the relationship between the dairymen and restaurants and public relations at the second morning meeting. E. Wayne Laird, chairman of the milk mar keting committee of the Oregon Independent Grocers association, will discuss milk marketing. All meetings will be held in Withycombe hall. OSC Plans Annual Dads Day February 14 OREGON STATE COLLEGE Dads of Oregon State college stu dents will be honored on tho campus February 14. Built around a Valentino theme, the Dads Day program will include a luncheon for the fathers and their sons and daugh ters, the annual Dads club meet ing, a special matinee perform ance of a sneech denartement J play, "The Male Animal," and an OSC-University of Washington basketball game. Dads will also have a chance to attend classes and to inspect new campus build, ings and facilities.
