The home was decorated for Christmas with a large Christ mas tree, under which were the gifts for exchange. There were seventeen members and one guest of honor, Mrs. Georgia Capon, present. Mrs. Capon also drew the White Elephant prize. Re freshments were served by the hostesses. The next meeting, Jan. 8, will be held at home of Rose Miller, at that time the secret pals will be revealed. It is hoped all members will be present. The American Legion and the Auxiliary held their Christmas party on the eve of Dec. 18 in the grange hall. They were enter tained by the school band. This was the first public appearance of the band. Cards were enjoyed after which they had an exchange of gifts. Potluck dessert was served. The Monument Grange will I hold its Christmas party Dec. 20 1 with an exchange of gifts and a! potluck dessert supper. j The Monument Grade School will present their Christmas pro gram Dec. 23, after which they will sponsor a public dance as a benefit for the school. Mr. and Mrs. Farrow will furnish the music. Professor Robt. Croft and Mrs. Croft left Thursday for Portland where they both will receive medical aid. They left their three sons with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ro.ach. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Cup per and Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hooker. The Crofts expect to be gone ten days. Mrs. Anita Cork returned from San Francisco last Thursday. She was met at Dayville by her father, Emory Moore. Mrs. Dean Enright of the L. S. Ranch on Cottonwood, was doing Christmas shopping in John Day Wednesday. H. M. Hanson of Long Creek re turned to Portland on Dec. 15 to have more medical aid for her leg which was broken during haying last summer. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hill drove to Fossil December 18 to attend to business matters an dto visit with relatives. After we had fin ished our first copy and had it corrected, we made our final copy. We have been writing them for about a week. Joann Brosnan Seventh Grade The seventh grade had their current event tests the other day This test covers six weeks of work, and it is sent to us by the publishers of current ivenis. Joann Brosnan got the highest score, which was 96. The scores ranged from 96 to 30. The stu dents thought that it was rather a hard test. We are averaging the scores of the seventh and eighth grades, to see which erade will get the highest average score. Janice Beamer The seventh grade is going car oling Monday night from 7 to 8, We are making seveal stops.
