The Garden Club met at the
home of Mrs. Echo Palmateer on
Tuesday Oct. 11 with Ms. Anna
Ball and Mrs. Harry Yarnell as
co-hostesses. Mrs. Ball gave a
talk on the care of house plants
and Mrs. Omar Rietmann demon
strated making corsages. Each of
the members made a corsage. . It"
was decided at the business meet
ing to erect a tool house and to
plant lilacs next spring in the
city park. Several of the mem
bers plan to attend the flower
judging school in Pendleton Oct.
21,22 and 2.1 Refreshments were
served by the hostesses. Mrs. Gor
don White received the door prize.
Mrs. Pete Cannon and Mrs. Ted
Palmateer entertained the Arnica
Club in the basement of the Com
munity Church Wednesday, Oct.
15. Games were played and those
receiving prizes were Mrs. Earl
McCabe, Mrs. Darrell Padberg and
Mrs. Earl McKinney.
Mr. and Mrs. Dixon Smith were
recent visitors in Walla Walla.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bergstrom
attended the golden wedding of
Mr. and Mrs. Branner Reese in
Yakima Oct. 12. The Reeses were
married in lone October 12, 1902.
They have two sons, Delbert and
John of Yakima. She was the for
mer Frankie Cochran and is a
niece of Mrs. Ida Grabill.

Clara Kincaid's house at her farm
last week.

for Santa Rosa Thursday of last
week to attend the funeral of his
brother James O'Meara. Mrs.
Ellen Rieth is staying at the home
of her son, Francis Rieth at Har
rington, Wash., during the
O'Meara's absence.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Druse of
Yakima are visiting her sister,
Mrs. Ida Grabill. They all went
to Lone Rock last week to visit

The Bunchgrass Rebekah Lodge
held a joint meeting with Holly
Lodge of Lexington Thursday
evening of last week. The Bunch
grass lodge put on a skit when
presenting a gift from both the
lodges to the Mrs Olive Ramey,
Assembly President, who paid her
official visit that evening. Those
taking part in the skit were Mrs
Omar Rietmann. Mrs. Gordon
White and Mrs. Harvey Ring.
Charles Allen Tom of Rufus, a
candidate for representative for
the 22nd district gave a talk at
Willows grange meeting Satur
day evening explaining the mea
sures to be voted on Nov. 4
The H. E. C. of Willows held
their first meeting at the Grange
hall Friday Oct. 17 with a pot-
luck dinner at noon. In the after
noon refreshments were served by
Mrs. Wate Crawford and Mrs. Ida
Coleman. At the business meet
ing committees were appointed
for the dinner, bazaar and carni
val to be given Nov. 22.
Mrs. Donald Ball and daughter,
Marsha Lorraine, are staying at
the Lewis Ball home for a few
days.
Dinner guests at the Elmer
Holtz home Friday evening of last
week were Mrs. Walter Jepsen
and children, Virginia, Anna,
Evelyn Frank and John, and Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Jepsen and
