Peck-Alstott Nuptials Read Here Sunday The country home of Mr. nnri Mrs. R. D. Allstott was the scene of the wedding of their daughter, Virginia, and Lyle reck, son of Mr. and Mrs. .Glover Peck, of .Parkdale, Sunday afternoon. Rev. J. rainier Sorlien of the Methodist church read the single ring ser vice. The bride, given in marrinpp hv her father, wore a pink wool suit with black accessories and car ried a shower bouquet of pink rosebuds. Her sister, Miss Laura Kay Allstott, was the only at tendant and wore a suit of beige wool with grey accessories and carried a nosegay bouquet. Clyde Allstott was best man. A reception followed the cere mony with Mrs. R. D. Allstottt, Jr., serving the cake and Miss Jeanette leek of Parkdale, pour ing. Out of town guests present for the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Glover Peck and daughter. Jean ette of Parkdale, Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Allstott Jr. of Ordnance and Miss Jackie Schmidt of Pendleton. Ladies Night At Elks First of Fall Season Hostesses for the Elks Ladies' Night Card party held Thursday evening in the social rooms of the Elks Temple were Mrs. Ralnh Thompson, Mrs. Norman Florence, Mrs. P. W. Mahoncv. Mrs. K. Stephen Thompson and Mrs. Ray mond Ferguson assisted by Mrs. Dean Gilman and Mrs. Alex Thompson. In bridge, Mrs. Clar ence Rosewall received high score and Mrs. Harlan D. Me-, Curdy, Sr., second; in pinochle, Mrs. Charles Beckett received high and Mrs. John Bergstrom, second. Mrs. Walter Beckett re ceived the door prize. Far Corner Reviewed At Bookworms Club Miss Lulu Hager entertained the Bookworms Club at her apart ment in the Case building Tues day evening. Mrs. Floyd Jones reviewed the book "Far Corner" by Stewart Holbrook. The book has given widespread fame to Leslie L. Matlock, hero of the Heppner flood of 1903. Those present were Mrs. James G. She tnnrheil on the aims of the Soroptimist ciubs and mentioned that they are international, there helntr clubs in all parts of the world. Four members of the local club were attending the Regional Con ference in Butte, Montana. They were Mrs. Clara B. Gertson. Mrs. Joe Hughes, Mrs. Grace Nicker- son and Mrs. W .O. George. A very enjoyable day was spent touring the chrysanthemum garden of the hostess and viewing approximately 200 different var ieties of Chrysanthemums.
