Many Enjoy IOOF Rebekah Picnic A largo crowd of Oddfellows, llrbekahs and their families at tended the annual picnic Sunday at the Wightman Brothers' Blue! Mountain Ranch south of Hard man. A pot luck luncheon was .served early in the afternoon after which the adult members enjoyed games of horseshoes, baseball or hiking. The children were enter tained by races, tug-of-war for which prizes were awarded to the winning side. Mrs. Adella Duran was presented a prize of $5.00 for having the longest membership in a Rebekah Lodge, Mrs. Duran is a member of Holly Rebekah Lodge of Lexington. Robert Wightman received the $5.00 prize ifor having the longest mem bership in the Subordinate Lodge. He is a member of Willows No. 66, Ileppner. The committee in charge of arrangements included j Ted Pierson and Bob Dobbs. i Miss Humphreys Honored On Birthday Miss Leta Humphreys was com plimented at a party Saturday evening at her home on No. Court street when the personnel of the Humphreys Drug Company ar ranged a pot luck affair in honor of her birthday. Present were Mrs. Ealor Huston, Miss Doris Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wilhite, Miss Marjorie Pierson, Miss Marie Soward, Mrs. Alma Morgan, Mrs. Lucy Rodgers, Mrs. Sara E. Mc Namer, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parrish and Mrs. W. O. Dix. Peterson, Jeweler 4-H Clubs Weekend At Lehman Springs The 411 club members and leaders of the Busy Stitchers sew ing club and the Peachy Preser vers canning club went to Leh man Springs last weekend. The attending club members were Pat Peck, Shirley Peck, Sha ron Rill, Sally Palmer, Judy Thompson, Jean Graham, Patsy Wright, Janet Wright and Men doth Thomson. Swimming and hiking were en joyed Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday they had a pot luck lunch at noon. Four Year Old Has Birthday Party Eddie Ernsdorff, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ernsdorff, celebrated his fourth birthday Saturday July 12 with a party given by his mo ther, assisted by his aunt Mrs. Wilbur Worden. The children played in the wading pool and later refresh ments featuring a large birthday cake were served to Mrs. Jeff Carter, Mike and Jeffery, Mrs. Phil Blakney, Philip and Mike, Mrs. James Allen, David and Richard, Mrs. Walter Barger, Con nie and Debbie, Mrs. James Far ley and Trisha, Mrs. William Bar ratt, Scotty and Vickie, Mrs. L. Picnic Held On Courthouse Lawn The Women's Society of Chris tian Service of the Methodist church held a potluck luncheon and p'icnic at the Courthouse park for its regular business meeting Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Whitmer G. Wright, president, in charge. Others present were Mrs. Clayton Shaw and two sons, Mrs. J. 0. Hager, Mrs. Lucy E. Birthday Party Held For Alice Vincent A birthday party was given for Alice Mae Vincent, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Vincent, on her fifth birthday, Tuesday July 15. The afternoon was spent play ing games. Balloons and favors were given the guests. After the gifts were opened, small cakes, punch and ice cream were served to Susan Van'Horn, Susan Drake, Patricia Van Winkle, Trishia Far ley, Terry and Jerry Terral, Jimmy and Libby Evans, Lynn Burken bine, Billie Walker, Judy Groshen and Connie Barger. Later in the afternoon a decor ated heart shaped cake, baked by Mrs. Vincent, was cut. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Keith Kendall, Payette, Idaho and Mr. and Mrs. Tress McClintock. Eightmile Home Scene Of Picnic Sunday Mr. and Mrs. John Bergstrom entertained with a picinc supper Sunday evening at their home in the Eightmile section. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Paul McCoy and children, Nina, Michael, Kathleen, Linda and Marybeth of Hermiston; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Pierson, Miss Marjorie Pierson, Miss Rose Marie Pierson and Ger ald and Marilyn Bergstrom. o MINNESOTA PICNIC The annual picnic of the Min nesota State Society will be held at Jantzen Beach Park, Portland, on Sunday July 27 according to F. G. Quimby, president of the society. Minnesotans and their friends are invited. The program will begin at 2:00 p. m. PEACHY PRESERVERS The Peachy Preservers 4-11 club met at Janet and Betsy Wright's home on July 8. The following members were present: Sally Pal mer, Pat Peck, Patsy Wright, Shir ley Peck, Jean Graham and Janet Wright. Jean Marie is a new member. Jean and Patsy gave a demon stration on the process of clari fying juice for jelly making. We have had some practice In freez ing, canning, jam and jelly mak ing. Wightman told of her recent trip to Seattle. While there she visited a Soroptimist meeting. She told of the Interest ing speaker she heard. ' Mrs. Laverne Van Marter, Jr. was a guest at this meeting.
