PIERCE Clerk State Land Board ll-15cW NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION OF THE WEST EXTENSION IRRIGATION DISTRICT NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: 1 That a snecial election will be held in the West Extension Irrigation District, Umatilla County, State of Oregon on Saturday, the 21st day of June, 1952, for the purpose of determin ing whether the Board of Direct- Heppner Gazette Times, Thursday, ors of the District shall be autho rized for and on behalf of the District to enter into an amenda torv repayment contract with The United States of America, acting through the Secretary of the In terior, in pursuance of the pro visions of the Federal Reclama tion Laws, these being the Act of June 17, 1902 (32 Stat. 388) and all acts amendatory there of or supplementary thereto. The form of contract proposed to be entered into is a draft designated "R O. Draft-31752" which has been ap proved by the Secretary of the In. terior, subject to such modifica tions as appear desirable to the District's Board of Directors to conform to the requirements of the Secretary and the District as of the time the contract is pre pared for signature. Copies of the form of contract are available in the office of the District and the form of proposed contract appears in full attached to the minutes of the Board of Directors adopted on the 17th day of May, 1952, by which the Board approved the proposed amendatory repayment contract and called this .special election. The form of contract and resolution are open to in spection by any elector of the Dis trict who is qualified to vote in this special election. The proposed amendatory repayment contract when executed by the parties there to, stated in general terms, will contain provisions relating to the following matters, among others: (a) Restating the District's obligation, rights and privileges with respect to the construction, operation and maintenance, and mnnvmpnt of the West Division of the Umatilla Federal recla mation project, and amending and sunersedinz all prior con tracts between the District and the United States with respect to such project.. (b) Reducing the District's maximum repayment obligation from in excess of $1,000,000 to $233,175.69. (c) Establishine the District's annual construction charge at $1,426.50.
