MANUELITA EVELYN MUNKERS CARMELITA ELVENA HALVQRSEN - Joint Executrix. 39-43c o County School News Notes The Morrow county teachers as sociation held the regular meet ing of the teachers Oregon Edu cational Association at Lexington Tuesday.4 A dinner was served by the Lexington P-TA at 6:00 and following that the group retired to the auditorium and held their regular meeting under the direc tion of Jim Vanover, county president. A report on the Morrow county speech festival to be held 'March 12 was discussed by Gladys Ely, committee chairman.' Mrs. La vern Partlow of Boardman re ported on ,the O. E. A. delegate assembly she attended in Port land during the last weekend. Following the regular business meeting the teachers of Morrow county heard Marble Cook, O. E, A. field representative for the State of Oregon. His topic being the improvement of the school personnel. Cook sited many in stances of this progress, by the standards being raised in schools and by the higher qualifications for teachers. Also that the pat rons were desiring better educa tional facilities be placed in the schools and that better buildings be constructed. Legislators were more interested in education and were setting up better require ments and financial support for the schools. At the close of the meeting the teachers and guests were escorted to the gym where the Hardman and Lexington square dancing cliibs entertained in a regular old fashioned dance evening. On Tuesday of this week Mr. Grant and Clyde Martin of the State Department of Education visited the Lexington schools and made a regular routine inspec tion. Wednesday the Hardman and lone schools were visited, Thursday the Heppner schools and on Friday the Irrigon and Boardman schools will be visited.
