Parish Dinner Held At Episcopal Church A large crowd attended the Par ish dinner at All Saints Episcopal Church Saturday evening. Fol lowing group singing which was led by Mrs. Lucy Peterson, Rev. E. L. Tull gave a brief talk in troducing, Marvin R. Wightman, junior warden, who was guest speaker of the evening. Wight man, who has just recently at tended a laymen's conference in Pendleton, gave a comprehen sive talk on the work being done in the missionary district of East ern Oregon and especially stres sed the work done in our mission in Liberia, East Africa. i'he Parish House has under gone some extensive decorating. The floor has been sanded and varnished with a hard gymnas ium finish. The walls and ceiling have been varnished and the dos sal used back of the altar during Church school has been dyed a beautiful burgundy shade. This matches the new draperies which are a liturgical print in similar shades on white. , These have J)een lined so that they can be used in daytime to shut out the light in order that movies may be shown to the children during the Church school hour. The Wo men's Auxiliary, Sunday School and some private individuals paid for the work. Mrs. Paul Brown has offered the use of her projector for the use of the for all ' occasions MARY VAN'S FLOWER SHOP Church school to show pictures. On Wednesday, Novemebr 28, Bishop Lane W. Barton will be here from Bend to conduct con firmation services. This' will be an evening meeting.' O' Officers Elected by Heppner Rebekahs Election of officers was held at the meeting of Sans Souci Re bekah Lodge Friday evening in the Oddfellows hall. Mrs. Adelle Bailey was chosen as noble grand; Mrs. Ruth F. Payne, vice grand; Mrs. Bea Barkla, recording secretary; Mrs. Ruth E. Bergstrom, financial secretary; . Mrs. Pearl Devine, treasurer. Appointive of ficers will be . announced, later. The newly elected , president of the Triple Link. Club, Mrs. Vir ginia Groshens, was introduced and announced that the club will hereafter meet in the homes of the members for the third Wed nesday - of each- month. Mrs. Pearl. Devine is the hostess for the meeting of the club' on. December 19. VThe ' lodge is planning a Christmas party to be held joint ly with the Oddfellowjs.. This will be held early in December and each member is to bring an un wrapped gift suitable for an elderly man or woman. These will be sent to the Oddfellow Home in Portland lor re-issue to members residing there. Mrs. R. G. McMurtry and Mrs. Pearl Devine are in charge of arrange ments for this party. , . After a two-weeks honeymoon the couple will live In Heppner. Mrs. J. M. Cornelison gave in teresting sketches of pioneer wo men teachers of Eastern Oregon in which she emphasized the happiness in their lives and their work. Mrs. Ray Derrick of Milton Freewater spoke on "A Woman's Viewpoint of Thailand". Attending the meeting were the Mesdames Velva Bechdolt, Margaret Cason, and Ethel Lyng holm of Heppner, Mrs. Gladys Ely of lone, and Mrs. LaVerne Part low of Boardman. Social Meeting Of lone Topic Club Pinochle and bridge were played at the social meeting of the Topic club at the Roy Lind strom home Saturday evening. Those winning prizes were; in pinochle Mrs. Herbert Ekstrom and Gordon White, -high, Mrs. Charles Carlson and Herbert Ek strom low; Mr, Ekstrom also won 300 pinochie. In bridge Mrs. C. W. Swanson won high and Mrs. E. R. Lundell low and Mrs. M. E.. Cotter jack high. Mrs. Linustrom Mrs. Sam McMillan and Mrs. Charles O'Connor were the hostesses. First Christian Church went to Hermiston Thursday to attend the all day meeting at the Hermiston Church of Christ. A foreign mis sionary, Mrs. Elmer Boyer, who has been serving in the African Congo for a number of years, was the guest speaker of the day. There was a lunch at noon. Those making the trip included Mes dames Olive Huston, J. W. Hiatt, Ealor Huston, L. D. Neill, Earl Soward, Willard Warren, Jarvis Chaffee, Ethel Ziements, Casha Shaw, Frank E. Parker and Arthur Brownlow. sermon and choir service with members of both the children's and adult choirs. o Sorority Meets At Hermiston Iota Chapter of Delta Kanoa Gamma met in Hermiston at the home of Mrs. O. 0. Felthouse on Saturday, November 17, for a one o'clock luncheon with 22 mem bers present. Hostesses for the luncheon were Mesdames Joyce Smith, Dorothy Elliott, and Edith Coble, and Miss Mary Petri. Union Thanksgiving Services PJ an ned Thanksgiving will be observed this year with a -Union Church service at the Methodist Church at which time the Protestant churches of the 'city will unite in services of song and thanksgiv ing. Rev. Earl Soward of the First Chrictian church will preach the sermon, Rev. Elvon Tull of All Saints Episcopal Church will give the invocation and Rev. J. Palmer Sorlein will give the bene diction. This will be an 8 o'clock service so as .to. accomidate all interested! after work hours. Thanks giving morning at 10 o'clock, The Holy Eucharist will be celebrated in All Saints Epis Copal Church. There will be a For His Christmas Stocking Give Him' The Best Holly Rebekah Holds Tea At Lexington The Holly Rebekah Lodge of Lexington held a tea Sunday from the aid rooms at the Congrega tional church In Lexington in honor of Mrs. A. F. Majsski who is to be a State Assembly officer in 1952. The table which was the center of attraction was covered with a lovely white lace table cloth and in the center was a flat cake decorated with white doves, silver leaves and silver candies. At each end was a beautiful sil ver service from which tea and coffee were served. Those pouring were: Mrs. Pete McMurry and Mrs. Rufus Piper of Heppner, and cut ting was Mrs. W. E. McMillan and presiding at the punch bowl was Mrs. Lena Lundell of lone. Also pouring was Mildred Davidson, Alice Majeske and Jeanne Dobbs of Heppner. Later in the afternoon a program was enjoyed which consisted of an opening prayer by Rev. Sorlein of Heppner, a dance "Skaters Waltz by Marilyn Mona gle, reading by Mrs. Reitmann of lone, another dance "Charleston" Francine Francis, and Marilyn Monagle, 2 musical readings, Mrs. Sorlein of Heppner, another dance "Spanish Dance" Marilyn Mona gle of Jleppner. These girls were under the direction of Mrs. Gean ana Johnson of Heppner, which was followed by a solo by Mrs. Vernon" Munker accompanied by her daughter, Marilyn, and end ing with a piano solo by Mrs. Drake of lone. Out of town guests were: Mrs. Pete McMurt ry, Mrs. Edith Porterfield, Mrs. Rufus Piper, Mrs. Jeanne Dobbs, Mrs. Adelle Bailey of Heppner, Mrs. LaVern Van Marter, Mrs. Gladys Drake, Mrs. Elain Reit mann, Mrs. Tuda Swanson, Mary Swanson, George Ely, of lone, also Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Sorlein of Heppner.
