Hermann of lone announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Ingrid Louise Hermann, to Harlan Paul Craw ford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wate Crawford of lone. The wedding date has not been set at' this time. Miss Hermann is a graduate of the lone high school and one of the popular and well known girls in Morrow county. For years she has received top honors in her 4-H club work majoring in beef cattle and has been photographed for the Portland papers for her club work at the State air. This last fall she was chosen as Queen Ingrid of the Morrow County Fair and Heppner Rodeo and these honors she carried with her usual poise and charm. Elk Ladies Night Held Thursday Mr. and Mrs. Ralph I. Thomp son, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Flor ence, Mr. and Mrs. George Rugg, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wilkinson and Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Thomp son were hosts for the ladies' night card party at the B. P. O, Elks Thursday evening. Pinochle and bridge were played with high in pinochle being received by Mrs. Gladys Beckett and second by Mrs. Henrietta Herman. High in bridge was received by Mrs. Virginia Rosewall and second by Mrs. Ruth McMurdo. Refresh ments were served. ; o Birthday Dinner At Green Home Mrs. Mattie Green and Mrs. L. D. Neill entertained Monday with a dinner complimenting Mrs. Ealon Huston and Willian L. Mc Caleb on the occasion of their birthdays. L. D. Neill. was also a guest. The party was held at the Green home on Water street. o NEED Letterheads, Phone 882 Gaarsland-Davidson Wedding Saturday Mrs. Margaret Davidson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Seehafer, and Joe H. Gaarsland were married at the lone Co-operative Church Saturday morning, Rev. A. Shirley, pastor officiated. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a coral dress with white accessories and' carried an orchid on a white Bible. Mrs. Walter Corley, sister of the bride was her only attendant. She wore a tan dress with brown ac cessories and carried a nosegay of white carnations. Charles Carlson was best man. Mrs. Fred Hoskins Jr., sang "Because", she was accompanied by Mrs. Cleo Drake, who also, played the wed ding marches. A reception followed in the basement of the church. After the bride and groom cut the first piece of cake the rest was cut by Mrs. Ida Coleman. Mrs. Charles Carlson poured the coffee and Mrs. Eldon Padberg presided at the punch bowl. Billie Seehafer sister of the bride had charge of the guest book. Blue Bird Group Entertains Mothers The Lovely' Blue Birds enter tained their mothers, grandmoth. ers, teachers, and little sisters and brothers at a Hallowe'en nursery rhyme arid fairy story party in the basement of the James Thomson residence last Monday afternoon. The room was attractively deco rated by the Blue Birds with pumpkins, cats, witches, flowers and cat tails. The pledge of allegiance to the flag was given by all, led by Francine Moyer. Janet Thomp son led the girls in saying the Blue Bird Wish. The girls then sang several songs, including a Blue Bird action song. While the girls were changing into their nursery rhyme and fairy story costumes .Doris Morris presented the guests with a white chicken feather dyed blue, as the phono graph played nursery rhyme re cords. Each Blue Bird then pan tomimed a nursery rhyme or a story character. Doughnuts and cider were ser ved at a tea table, which the girls had arranged with lighted pump kins and a witch carrying flowers, and candles. Mary Evelyn Tuck er and Julie Pfeiffer poured. The other committees were: Hospitality Sheryl Harris, Shar on Keithley, Mary Emma Evans and Shirley Van Winkle; Deco rations and tea table Sandra Jones, Julia McGough and Ro- gena Wagner; Clean-up Mary Slocum, Bernice Thomson, Judy Parsons and Karen Depuy. Mrs. James Thomson and Mrs. Howard Evans, leaders, assisted the girls. o BIBLE CLASS ENTERTAINED Mr. and Mrs. Eart Soward en tertained the Adult Bible Class of the Christian Church Monday evening at the parsonage. Metho dist church. o Missionary Speaks at Christian Church Malcolm Norment, director of the Yakima Indian Christian Mis sion, was guest speaker at the meeting of the Union Missionary Society at the Christian Church Friday afternoon. Norment and his wife were formerly mission aries in Paraguay, South America and in his talk he gave a vivid description of their life and work among the natives of that coun try. He told of the work in the leper colony there and of the splendid mission now provided by the Protestant churches of Amer ica. The leper missions were pre viously controlled by the govern ment. Much of the heavy labor is done by women in this country where there are a great many more women than men; the aver, age being approximately eleven women to one man. Mr. Norment praised the splendid work of Frank Laubach in advancing the status of the natives of Paraguay. Mrs. Lucy Peterson sang two solos and was accompanied by Mrs. E. L. Tull. Mrs. Earl Soward was Jn charge of devotions and Miss Opal Briggs gave the clos ing prayer. Mrs. Paul Jones was presiding officer. Refreshments were served. o Degree of Honor plans Special Celebration The Degree of Honor has chosen Tuesday, November 13 as the date for its annual Thanksgiving and Homecoming celebration. There is to be a dinner at 6:30 p. m. at the Christian Church followed by the regular lodge meeting and program. All members and their families are invited to attend and the committee in charge espec ially requests that children be ac companied by their parents. Soroptimist Member Welcomed Back On November 1st, the Soropti mist Club met at O'Donnell's Cafe for luncheon and a business meet.ng. Committee reports were given. President Clara B. Gertson wel comed Jaunita Carmichael, who has been absent on leave for the last few months. BIRTHDAY HONORED SUNDAY Mrs. Theta . Stratton 1 was the honoree at a dinner party Sunday - j' evening for which Mrs. Martha ' King and Mrs. Barbara Ware were hostesses. This was In observance of Mrs. Stratton's birthday.
