ONLY Norah's Soroptimist Party Well Attended More than 80 people attended the Soroptimist card party Mon day evening at the Episcopal Par ish hall. The proceeds of this party will go to finance the an nual teen-age hayride on Hallow e'en, Prizes in bridge were won by May Gilliam high for women and Robert Penland high for men. In canasta Mrs. Frank E. Parker was high and Sadie Bigsbee second. In pinochle John Bergstom was high and Shirley Blake second. Steve Thompson was the lucky person to get the basket at the dutch auction. Eleanor Gonty was general chairman for the party. The Soroptimlsts wish to thank every one who helped make this party a success. During all these years, Mr. Spittle has not missed a Diocesan Con vention and is an active lay read er in the church. The first boys' choir was organized 68 years ago by Mrs. Spittle. During the ser vice, their son, John Spittle of San Francisco, sang "Pinas Ange- licus" (O Lord Most Holy) Dy Franck. A reception was held following the service with the Guild ladies as hostesses. For this Mrs. Lucy Peterson sang "Eye Hath Not Seen" from "The Holy City" by Gaul. One of the highlights of the week was the dedication of his half hour program over KST to his parents by John Spittle, who is a tenor at St. Mark's Luthern church in San Francisco Another son, Samuel, and family came from New Jersey for the occasion. Former Heppner Pair Married 50 Years Mr and Mrs John SDencer. for merly of Heppner, observed their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday at their home in Stan- field. O.Turner and Mr. Tur ner; and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Doo- little. o Rebekah Lodge Holds Memorial Services Special memorial services were held at the meeting of Sans Souci Rebekah Lodge for the late Mrs. Etta Howell who died recently in Portland. Participating in the charter draping ceremonial were Jeanne Dobbs, Noble Grand; Mer lvn Robinson. Past Noble Grand; Sara McNamer, chaplain; Elsie Ayers, Jessie Furlong, Ethelyn Pierson and Ruth Payne, candle hearers Mrs Lucv E. Roeers, soloist, ' sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and was accompanied by Oma Cox. In compliance with the wishes of the Grand Master, George h Lvons. Portland, in proclaiming November 1951 as Oddfellow month, .the order is planning a joint meeting with Willow Lodge No. 66 for the evening of Novem ber 14. This will be open to the public and an effort is being made to contact all former mem bers. persons who belong to lod ges other than Heppner and per sons who may be interested in becoming affiliated with either organization. A full evening's program is being planned and re freshments will be served. Hager home. There were 15 mem bers and guests present. The program was a study of the Bible led by Mrs. J. A. Miss Steagall was also pre sented a rubrum lily corsage. On the trays were small notes an nouncing the date of her mar riage Nov. 12 to Howard Crowell of Morgan at the Catholic church in Heppner.
