Boyce-Hubbard Wedding Held At lone Home Miss Lillian Hubbard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Van Hubbard and Ray Boyce, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Boyce of Condon were married at a garden ceremony Sunday at 2:30 p.m., August 26 at the Hubbard home. Rev. Earl L. Soward, pastor of the Christian Church of Heppner, officiated. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a pink bro- Telephont HERMISTON Phone3S7I PENDLETON Phone 1211 caded net ballerina length dress over pink satin with a net stoll and a head dress to match with orange blossoms. She carried a colonial bouquet of white roses. Tom Philbrick, sister of the groom was matron of honor. She wore a white dress. The brides maids were Miss Margaret Hubbard, sis ter of the bride, Mrs. Bill Snow, Miss E. Ball and Miss E. Prock. They wore blue and yellow frocks and all carried fans with Rub rum lillies and bouvardia. Tom Philbrick, brother-in-law of the groom, was best man. Miss Marie Soward song, "O' Promise Me" and "Because". She was accom panied by Mrs. Jesse Turner of Heppner, who also played the wedding marches. The mother of the bride wore' a blue and white dress with white accessories and a white carnation corsage. The groom's mother wore a blue dress with white accessories and a pink carnation corsage. The yard was decorated with baskets of glad oli and pastel streamers. The reception followed the cere mony with Mrs. P. W. Mahoney serving the four tiered wedding cake and Mrs. Archie Ball pre siding at the punch bowl. Mrs. Eugene Hall and Miss Nancy Ball had charge of the gifts and Miss Mary Gunderson the guest book. A buffet luncheon was served later, Mrs. Earl Mc Cabe assisting about the rooms. The bride's going away suit was blue with white accessories and a white rose corsage. The newly weds went north on their honey moon, after which they will be at home in Condon. Mrs. Boyce is a graduate of the lone schools and was a nurses aide at the Pioneer Memorial hospital in u U ih t v. Mr. Boyce is employed in Condon. Many guests were at the wed ding from Condon, Heppner and lone. Doherty-Lay Wedding Held August 20 At Enterprise Miss Doris Lay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Lay of Enterprise and Matthew Patrick Doherty, son of Mrs. Majorie Do herty of lone were married in the St. Mary's Catholic Church in En terprise August 20 at 9 a.m. The bride given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin princess dress trimmed in lace with a train. Her finger -tipped veil was held by a matching head-dress. She carried an or chid on a white prayer book with pink sweet peas. Miss Joan Hisler of Heppner was the bridesmaid and wore a green dress and car ried a nose gay of pink asters and sweet peas. John Doherty, brother of the groom, was the best man and Thomas Doherty, cousin of the groom, and Harold Snider were ushers. The bride's mother wore a green print dress with yellow gladoli corsage. A reception fol. lowed the wedding. Mrs. Kenneth Lay, sister-in-law of the bride, served the cake and her aunts served the punch and coffee. After a honeymoon to the coast the young couple will make their home in Elgin where Mrs. Do herty will teach and Mr. Doherty will continue his studies at E. O, C. E. at LaGrande. He is a graduate of the lone schools and served in the U. S. Army. Those attending the wedding from here were: Mrs. Marjorie Doherty and sons Charles, John and Blllie, Mrs. Rose Doherty and son Thomas, Harlan and Clyde Crawford, Jock Miller, Miss Ruby Ann Rietmann and Mr. and Mrs, Harold Snider and P. J. Doherty. o Soroptimist Entertain Queen And Court The Soroptimist Club entertain- ed Queen Ingrld and her court at their regular meeting Thursday, August 23. Their Chaperone, Jua nita Reitman and mothers, Mrs Herman, Mrs. Ball, Mrs. Chapell, and Mrs. Bauernfiend were also honored guests. Katherine Hoskins led the group in singing. Another visitor was Patricia Lauer of Portland. The party was celebrating the birthdays of two sons, Herman and Joseph and it was also Mrs., Green's birthday.
