Smith who were married in Nampa, Idaho, August 10, the bride was Mrs. Ann Carroll. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Smith and Lawrence Smith, Union; Pauline Smith, Pendleton; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith and family, Baker; Mr. and Mrs, Ed Skoubo and son, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Skoubo and sons, Mrs. I. Skoubo, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kunze, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Hamilton and daughters, and R. B. Rands. Mr. and Mrs. Smith are remaining In Board man for a time, Mr. Smith Is em ployed with the Peter Klewlt Construction Co. Tilllcum Club met August 13th at the home of Mrs. Chas. For thman with Mrs. Joe Crouch as co-hostess, with eleven members present Misses Bethlne and Judy New man of Bandon, Oregon were guests last week at the home of their aunt, Mrs. Frank Marlow. Sunday the two young ladles, Mrs. Marlow and son Harold motored to Walla Walla for the day with Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Zerba. ' Mr. and Mrs. Bernls McLaugh lin returned from a ten day va cation spent In Montana. Boardman Ladles Aid met Wed nesday afternoon at the Mrs. Glenn Carpenter home with Mrs. B. J. Cram as co-hostess. Mrs. John Walker was elected to the office of secretary made vacant by the resignation of Mrs. Delia Fuolkner who is returning to her home in Goldendale, Washing ton, after the first of September. Mrs. Adolf Skoubo is in Portland assisting with the care of the new twin grandsons, parents are Mr, and Mrs. Toiva Slmilia. Miss Barbara Jackson, Welser, Idaho is a house guest of Sharon Fussell, and also visiting many other friends. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Potts and daughters Marie and Irene re turned Saturday from a trip a- long the Oregon coast. The Potts were guests two nights of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ball and Mrs. Crystal Barlow. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mead and daughter have moved to The Dalles where Mead will work for the power company. Guests Friday at the Hugh Lexington Boy Polio Victim Paul Breeding, 12 year old son, of Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Breeding was rushed to St. Mary's hospital In Walla Walla Sunday night sunenng with polio. RUGGLES Phone 723 Heppner Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Smethurst spent the week end at Crater Lake. They were acompanied by their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Hermann Ziegler. Brown home were Mr. and Mrs. Aldrich Ostlund and sons By ron and Neal of Alezandria, Minn, The Ostlunds being friends from the Brown's home town. Other week end guests at the Browns were Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Kerns of Seattle. The two ladies are cousins. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Alton, Portland spent the week end at their country home in Boardman. As their guest was Father Grady, of Portland also. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tatone and daughter Linda were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Knopp. Mr. Robert Coder left for Yak ima where he will be employed during the hop harvest. Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Ely, Ora and Ilene Ely, also Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Lilly and son of LaGrande left Monday morning for a weeks vacation going to the coast via Crater Lake. Sunday afternoon callers at the Z. J. Gillespie home were Mr. and Mrs. Truman Messenger and family, Mr. and Mrs. Billie Marquardt and daughter Norita, also Carl Marquardt all of Lex ington. The young folk enjoyed a dip in the Columbia during the afternoon. Henry Gantenbien took a truck load of hay to Portland Sunday for his mother Mrs. Minnie Gantenbien. The Porky-Beef 4-H club met Tuesday evening at the Nathan Thorpe home, leaders are Mrs. Clayton Waldron and Leo Potts. Mrs. Fred Smith, Nathan Thor pe and Ray Conyers were in Heppner Tuesday doing jury duty. Mr. and Mrs. George Graves have sold their home to Mr. and Mrs. John Ledbetter. At present their plans for the future are indefinite. J. F. McMillan and son Denny returned Thursday from a vaca tion at Hubbard and Salem. . Denny McMillan, Walt Wallace and Max Breeding are vacation ing in Southern Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Breeding were Walla Walla visitors Friday where Mrs. Breeding consulted a physician. Mr. and Mrs. Truman Messeng er have received word of the birth of a grand daughter, Mar cieta Dawn, weight 7 lbs and 2 oz. to Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Mes senger at Fresno, California. Mrs. Messenger will be remembered as Alta LaFran of Lexington. Yvonne Breeding has left for Pendleton where she will be em ployed and will attend the St Joseph's academy. Mr. and Mrs. Hermann Wallace spent several days last week at Wallowa and Minam fishing. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hunt, are driving a new Mercury. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hunt, Mr. and Mrs. John Ledbetter and Mr. ana" Mrs. Roger Campbell were Lehman Springs visitors over the week-end. , Mrs. Ed Grant and children and Mrs. Quanita Walter and son are visiting friends here from their home in Prineville. Mr. and Mrs. George Graves and Mr. and Mrs. Hermann Wal lace are spending a few days at Ephrata, Washington on busi ness. . f Mr. and Mrs. Charles -Bloods-worth are vacationing in Enter prise. Maurice Groves and small daughter, Anita were business visitors here Saturday.
