Norman Nelson of Lexington, Homer Hayes of Irrigon and Carl F. Bergstrom of Eightmile, mem bers of the budget committee, met with the County Court April 25, 1951 to draw up a budget for Morrow County for the fiscal year 1951-52. The Court agreed to accept the bid of $270.00 for the replacement of the glass face for the Court house clock from the Pendleton Paint and Glass Co. as being the best bid offered. The Court decided to accept the proposal of the General In surance Co., and authorized issu ance of policies in the amount of $50,000.00 on the Courthouse and $10,000.00 on the Courthouse equipment. Said policies to be is sued on a five-year budget plan and the premiums distributed to three major agencies. It was agreed by the Court that they would authorize the District Attorney to notify Malarkey and Moore of 923 S. W. 17th Street, Portland, Oregon, the general contractors of the County hospi tal job, and their bonding com pany, the United States Fidelity and Guarantee Co., that Morrow County was electing to complete all unfinished items. The recov ery of such expenses in complet ing the project to be paid by Ma larkey and Moore to Morrow County upon completion. The Court ordered that Dance Hall license be issued to the Lex ington Grange No. 726. The Court ordered the sale of the following property: North west Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 5, Township 6 South, Range 28 East of the Willamette Meridian, containing 28 acres more or less for the min imum price of $250.00 cash. That part of the Southwest Quarter and the Southwest Quar ter of the Southeast Quarter lying South of the Canal, and Lot 1, Block 23 East all located in Sec tion 20, 5 North, Range 27 East of the Willamette Meridian, con taining 53.11 acres more or less, for the minimum price of $1.50 per acre cash.
