FLOSSIE COATS Melon stands are again the at traction along the highway and are well supplied with local mel ons. Stands open in and near Boardman are operated by Adolf Skoubo, Edd. Skoubo and Chuck Anderegg. A fire Wednesday afternoon destroyed three stalls in the North Morrow County fair stock shed, but by the fast work of lo cal men was held in control and kept from spreading. Cause was from burning weeds nearby on the ditch bank. The damage was to the extent of $100 and will be repaired in time for the fair in two weeks. Mrs. Allen Billings who has been attending summer school at La Grande- returned home Fri day, having completed the course. Carma Barlow returned to Boardman Friday after spending a week in Lexington with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Truman Mesenger. She will be taken home to Renton, Wash. Wednesday by another aunt, Mrs. Claud Coats. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Baker and daughters returned home Sa. turday after several rays spent in Portland and Seattle. Among the Pendleton shoppers Saturday were Mrs. Earl Downey, Mrs. Adolf Skoubo, Mrs. Claud Coats, Carma Barlow and Etta Jones. Week-end guests at the Ray Conyers home were their son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Oral Con years and family from Salem. Oral returned to his work Sun day, while Mrs. Conyers went on to Cascade, Ida. for a visit with her parents. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Allen are Mrs. B. J. Olds and son Perry of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Ross Nyropp of Portland, all coming to attend the golden wedding party given for the Aliens Tuesday evening at the grange hall. The ladies are sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Macomber of Arlington were guests Sunday at the Leo Root home. Mrs. Oscar Veelle and son Os car Jr. returned home Sunday af ter a week spent in Portland and Oregon City with relatives. Ralph Smith arrived home Sat urday after spending the sum mer in Tacoma with relatives. Sunday afternoon guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Coats were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dickson, Miss Ann Jones and Miss Dorothy Jones all of Dallas, Texas. Miss Ann Jones was a former Boardman school teacher and lived at the Coats home. Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Macomber Three Links Club Presents Member ith Stork Gift The Three Links club met at the home of Mrs. Emma Peck on Thursday afternoon. The business meeting was presided over by returned home Sunday from a week's vacation spent in and around valley points. Mr. and Mrs. John Walker and son left Tuesday morning for Sa lem where they will join Mr. Walker's parents and the two families will motor on into Ca nada. David Brown and Ray Conyers arrived home by Brown's private plane Friday from San Alsemo, Calif. Brown, with Mrs. Brown and daughter who had been at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vet Conyers, returned home Sunday. Mrs. Ralph Skoubo and son and Mrs. Frank Kunze and son motored to Pendleton Monday. the vice president, Mrs. Leonard Munkers. Refreshments of salad, wafers and punch were served. The club at this time presented Mrs. Leonard Munkers 'with a stork gift, Mrs. Archie Munkers making the presentation. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wark and granddaughter Sandie spent the week-end in Klickitat. Pendleton visitors on Tuesday were Mrs. W. E. McMillan, Mrs. Bob Davidson, Mrs. Adolph Ma jeSki and daughter Pat, Mrs. Gene Majeski and Mrs. C. C. Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Doherty are vacationing in the Willam ette valley. Mrs. Bob Davidson is caring for the small children in their absence. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Brashe ars returned home Sunday from a vacation trip. Beverley Lovelace returned to her home in La Grande after a few days visit at the Jones home. Cecil Hicks is confined to his home suffering from a back in jury. She carried a white Bible,,, a gift from the groom on which lay a single stem double flower purple orchid. The double ring ceremony was used. The young couple was attend ed by Mr. and . Mrs. Charles Thompson, Crestwood Drive, Se attle, sister and brother-in-law of the groom. A receptiofi was held at the Morr home in East Ed monds Acres. The young couple left for a week's honeymoon on the Olympic Peninsula and Cape Flattery. On returning they will reside in their new home "Mel ody Pines" in Lynnwood.
