ton Thursday afternoon of the
passing of Baby Charles (Chuck-I
ie) Christopherson at a hospital
in Portland. Chuckle had been ill
there for several weeks following
a brain operation. Funeral ser
vices were held from the Canby
funeral home in Canby Saturday
afternoon with the Rev. A. J. Gor
don from Salem officiating. Miss
Phyllis Battleson sang "Your
Sweet Little Rosebud Has Leit
You." Chuckie leaves to mourn
his passing his mother and fath
er and sister Gloria; also his
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. W.
Christopherson of Aurora, and

For CROP Program

The local committee and 'com
munity are pleased with the re
sponse and funds taken in at the
"Crop" program which was held
at the grange hall Saturday eve
ning, Nov. 13. The-funds were
from gifts donated by the local
folk and tho lunch nf pfllra unit
coffee , and amounted to $179.00,
The local committee was Kev.
Chas. Eble, Mrs. R. B. Rands,
Clyde Tannehill and Hugh brown
Mr. and Mrs. Russell Miller
ind Rev. Chas. Eble were respon
sible for many young folk being
able to attend the Christian En
deavor meeting at La Grande on
Sunday. Those going were the
adviser, Mrs. Fred Smith, Grace
Miller, Elnora Earwood, Wilma
Hug, Marlene Fisk, Sharon Fus
sell, Yvonne Rasmussen, Viola
Worden, Wilbur Piatt and Don
ald Gillespie.
Don't forget the Ladies' Aid
bazaar, which will be held Fri
day, Dec. 3, at the grange hall.
The eats and fun will begin at
6 p.m. with amusement all the
evening and winding up with a
program and the auctioning of
the handiwork. There will be
candy, popcorn, and a fish pond
besides other booths. Be sure to
come.

nesday with a potluck dinner at
noon and the regular business
following. The main business was
the election of officers for the
coming year, who are, president,
Anna Skoubo; vice president,
Mrs. Clyde Tannehill; secretary,
Myra Skoubo; treasurer, Mrs.
Katharine Mulligan.
I. T. Pearson returned home
last week from Texas where he
had spent a couple of weeks with
his mother, whom he had not
seen for many years.
Visitors one day last week at
the W. L. Blann home were Mr.
and Mrs. Ramey Sides and chil
dren, Betty and Dickie. They were
en route to California. Mr. and
Mrs. L. O. Long of Hermiston also
were dinnre guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Adolf Skoubo re
turned from Portland Monday af
ter a few days spent with their
daughters, Mrs. Toivo Simila,
Misses Asta and Erna Skoubo.
Miss Asta Skoubo who recently
returned from Palmer, Alaska,
where she was employed as a
nurse is now nursing in the Em
anuel hospital.
Week-end guests at the Frank
Cloclesser home were Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Wright and baby of
Oregon City.
Mrs. Art Allen and Mrs. Clyde
Tannehill spent Friday in The
Dalles.

Browns, motored to Pendleton
and spent the night at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Mead. All

Mr. and Mrs. Hervey Ide and
four sons of Portland stopped for
a short time at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Leo Root Sunday, en
route to Baltimore, Md., where
Mr. Ide will re-enter the U. S.
army. Ide has spent several
years in the service and has a
rating of captain. Mrs. Ide and
Mrs. Root are sisters.
