Much To Be Thankful For
When, in the memory of any livin? person,
has there been a time in which there has been so
much to be thankful for as we in America have on
this 22nd day of November 1945? If one were
to list the items it would require far more space
than is available in this column and besides there
would not be time to make a complete job of it.
Since a shortage of space prohibits use of many
words, brevity is in order.
' Our greatest joy comes from the fact that we
are observing this Thanksgiving day in a spirit of
peace. It is the first time in four years that we
have been able to give thanks for the blessings

thankful for was being alive, with the hope that
they would one day return to the scenes of their
earlier days in a land that had its inception in the
minds and hearts of men who sought the right to
live as free men and to worship God as their con-

Most folks in America annually have found cause
for Thanksgiving . . . But none of them ever have
been more grateful than we war weary folks this
November who offer a thousand thanks that the
gruesome cost of lives is over, that our brave boys
are coming home and we hope perpetual peace is
now visible on the horizon.

For these things we are truly
grateful and so long as we follow
in the faith of our forefathers,
ever guarding the principles of
democracy, we shall continue to
observe Thanksgiving day with
an ever-increasing appreciation
for that hardy little band of Pil
grims who sought a new land

be of their own choosing.

If we wish to express our
thankfulness to those who gave
their all that we might continue
to live in a free land we should
show that appreciation in a sub
