Opportunity for Service
There must be someone in Heppner or im
mediate vicinity who is qualified to take over
the duties of Boy Scout leader. In all probabil
ity the position will be open in a few weeks as
the incumbent, John H. Fuiten has been accept
ed for military service and may be called up
any time after April 1. If someone will step for
ward now and take a course in scouting under
Mr. Fuiten it will lighten the burdens of the
Scout council and enable the boys to carry on an
unbroken schedule.
The local Scouts have made commendable
progress since Fuiten has been their leader. And
the, funny part about it is that he had had no
previous experience in Scouting just a desire ;
to help the boys and being gifted with a .talent
for working with them. He has paved the way
for another to step in and carry on to even great
er heights. If you have a yen to work with boys
here's your opportunity to do a real community
service.

The French have a word for it. It seizes you
by the schnozzola and spreads from there to oth
er portions of the head, making breathing next
to impossible. Then the tongue gets coated, one's
taster goes out of commission, the bones ache
and a cough develops. One minute you think
maybe you'll die and the next you're afraid you
won't die. After enduring these symptoms and
emotions for three or four days you arrive at
the conclusion that you will live and that you
have been having a case of Old fashioned grip
or to use the French term la grippe. That's
why ye scribe has been' in seclusion the, past
several days.
