day night to report to his base at
Farragut, Idaho. ,
Mr. and Mrs. O.-W. Cutsforth re
turned home Sunday from Spokane
where they had gone to attend a
sale of registered Hereford stock.
Pvt Jack Van Winkle and family
arrived here Friday night from
North Carolina. They drove through
and had a serious accident some
where in Colorado but got the car
fixed so they could come on home
with it.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Padberg of
Portland were week-end visitors at
the Oris Padberg home.
Miss Frieda Breeding left Mon
day for Hermiston where she will
be employed at the Ordnance
depot.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ledbetter
and Mrs. Carl Breeding arrived
home Friday from Portland. Mrs.
Ledbetter had gone down for medi
cal treatment and Mrs. Breeding
visited her daughter who is ill with
infantile paralysis.
Mrs. Cecilia Van Winkle' gave a
very interesting demonstration last
Friday afternoon at the Ladies' Aid
rooms on the subject of fewer colds.
There will be a demonstration on
the planning of balanced meals

The Lexington high school is
putting on four one-act plays and
the date has been set for Friday
evening, March 23.
There has been an epidemic of
dog poisoning in Lexington this
winter. Several children have lost
their pets and there seems to be no
let-up. The latest victim was a little
dog belonging to a boy serving
overseas and only quick action on
the part of the family saved it.
This seems to be a very poor way
to show our appreciation to the
boys who are giving their all that
we might live in ; safety over here.
No. 33 initiation will be the chief
item of interest at the regular
meeting Friday night. Refreshments
will be served also.
