Home Economics club met at the home of Mrs. Clyde Tannehill Wed nesday with 13 members present. Committees were appointed for the coming year. The finishing date of the Pollyanna club will be Feb. 16 with a party at the grange hall to which all grange members -are in vited. PTA met Thursday night with a large crowd attending Several ques tions had been put in the box which created a lot of discussion. Due to many attractions the bas ketball game at Stanfield Friday night a small crowd was out to the show. The" next show will be Sat urday night 'with Gene Tierney and Victor McLagien in China Girl Following the show there will be a community box social for the pur pose of raising funds to go towards the new ceiling in the grange-hall. Grange met Saturday night with an exceptionally good crowd attend ing. C. D. Conrad, county agent, gave a very interesting talk on the food program, for the coming sea son. The government is asking for a large increase in most crops. An other number on the program was a skit by Russell and Hazel Miller. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Wicklander were visitors at grange . Saturday night. While here they reorganized the juvenile grange with Bill Lil ly in charge and 17 members going in. Elected officers were as follows: Master. Bobby Lilly; overseer. Keith Tannehill; secretary Mildred Miller; 'treasurer. Bud Hendricks; steward, Delbert Ball; gatekeeper. Darrell Mar low; Ceres, Pauline Smith; Flo ra, Carol Hamilton; Pomona, Gra cia Veele; chaplain Delbert Tyler; lecturer, Rosella Meinen. assistant steward, Robert Fortner; lady as sistant steward, Grace Miller. Ihe Boardman basketball team went to Stanfield to play Friday night where the first team won their game. The grade and second teams lost their games. Mrs. Cecil Hamilton received word that her lather, Albert Buhr of Densmore, Kans., passed away Friday following a heart attack. Her mother and father would have cel ebrated their 50th anniversary next month. Terry Yeager returned to Skou bo's Wednesday after having visited with his mother in Spokane since before Christmas. Bobby Morgan who is in the ser vice spent two days visiting his pa rents. Mr. and Mrs. Lou Morgan this week. Mr. and Mrs.. Jesse Lower had an auction sale , Saturday. They are leaving right away for California where they will make their home. Mrs. Lower received word last week that her son was killed in ac tion in Italy. Mrs. Gilbert Pettys and children are moving in with Mr. and Mis. Macomber this week. They will stay while Mr. Pettys is in the service. He is to report on Feb. 1 at Fort Lewis. ' Mrs. McFarland made a business trip to Portland Sunday. W H. Macomber returned to his home at Grandview Monday night after spending a week with his son Nate Macomber. Mrs. Lee Pearson and Mrs. Ger trude VanMetre spend Monday in Pendleton shopping. Ernie Peck took Ernabell back to Pendleton Monday where she is attending school. Bob Smith made a busines trip to Pendleton Monday. Mrs Harry Thorpe is substitute teacher for the first and second grades this week " while Mrs. Bill ings has taken time off to be with her husband Allen Billings who is home on furlough from the army. NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING Notice is hereby given that the annual meeting of the stockholders of the Lexington Oil Co-Operative will be held Feb. 7, 1944, at the Lexington grange hall for the pur poe of electing directors and the transaction of such other business as may be presented. 43-45 By MBS. J. A. SHOTTN -Mrs. Lily Dosche died suddenly at Gibbon Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. McBain. She had been in poor health since early spring when she had to give up her work as cafeteria cook at the Irrigon school house. She had lived with her daughter Mrs. Roy Minnick for a number of years She was well known and liked here. She was buried in Pendleton Wednesday. The Presbyterian aid met Thurs day in the church basement to work on a quilt. Juanita Voile burned her huid quite badly with boiling lard that burst the jar while in her hand. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Warner and four daughters and Mrs. Warner's mother Mrs. A. R. Boulware went to Forest Grove Friday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Warner's aunt, Mrs. Ford. They arrived home Sun day evening. Mr. Warner took Mrs. Boulware on to her home in Her miston that evening. Avery Shoun arrived in Chicago Friday morning and started on for Tennessee that same morning he re ports by' card. The Echo and Irrigon basketball teams played on the Echo floor Tuesday evening. Mrs. Earl Connell and children and Mrs. Betty Leonard were visit ing in Boardman Thursday. Mrs. Leonard of Portland arrived in Irrigon Wednesday to visit Mrs. Connell. Mr. and Mrs. E. R, Schneider, Mrs. Jack Browning, Mrs. Otlo Myers and Mrs. Glen O'Brien at tended the Pentecostal fellowship meeting at Miltton-Freewater Wed nesday. Sgt Cecil Goodman arrived from a camp in Louisiana and he and Mrs. Goodman from Portland spent Sunday and Monday with relatives in Irrigon. He has been gone about a year. PETERSON' RETURNS TO BASE Sgt Arthur Vance returned to San Francisco Wednesday after 10 days visit with his mother, Mrs. Izo ra Vance and other reatives. Sgt Vance reported back to his tank regiment for further training. Cpl Werner Medlock came a few days lated for a short visit with his rela tives, the Jim Hayes family and Mrs. Henderson Stout. Both boys entered service the game time and have always been together.
