"Proud fathers and mjothers and
interested friends filled the gymna
sium to capacity Wednesday night
to enjoy the Christmas program
presented by grade and high school
students.
Following the sounding of taps by
Morgan Connor the band played
thre numbers, the national anthem.
"God Bless America" and "Christ
mas Festival." Groug singing was led
by Everettt Smith with Miss Rose
Hooski ait the piano. Archdeacon
Neville Blunt read the prophecy as
found) in Is.iah and R(7. Bennie
Hove offered prayer.
"Star of the East", a pageant of
the Christmas story, arranged and
directed by Miss Lela Peterson,
was the high light of the evening
and a beautiful production it was.
The stage setting was complete, to
the star rising above Bethlehem.
Seated before the manger was Mary
with Joseph at her side, portrayed
by Marjorie ' Sims and Joe Mc
Laughlin. The shepherds, Kenneth
Schunk, Lauren Corwin and Tom
Hughes; wise men. Glen Coxen,
Billy Ulrich, Francis Connor, child
ren.Wesley Galiiger, Dorothy Alls
tott, Jack Ross, and adult worship
ers, Carolyn Bergstrom and Her
bert Schunk, completed the pic
ture with Dorothy Worden as the
angel. '
The well loved story progressed
by readings of scripture by Bobby
Barnett and Karl Gabler, and anti
phonal singing by the lower grade
chorus under the direction of Miss
Kathryn Parker and the tipper
grade chorus with Miss Hoosier
leading. Miss Parker's high school
chorus contributed greatly to the
enjoyment of the evening with their
well sung carols. Solos, Star of the
East and Silent Night were sung
were sung by Jean Turner accom
panied by Marylou Ferguson, and
practice at 8 o'clock.
