The youne; man has been named Gerald Alan. Rftf. Bunch is now stationed somewhere in Aus tralia. Miss Rose Gorger who is at tending St. Vincent's school of nursing in Portland is soending her vacation with her family. She will resume her work Jan. 4. Mrs. Edna Yarnell of Eugene is a guest of her daughter, Mrs. Chas. O'Connor. Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Yarnell and son Al ton attended a dinner at the O' Conner home in honor of the guest. It is reported that Mat Halverson had bought the Milton Morgan farm west of lone. P. C. Peterson, now occupying the farm will re main until next fall. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Buchanan of Butter Creek were lone visitors Tuesday Dec 15. Mrs. Mat Gordon who is em ployed in the Inspection depart ment at Hermiston spent Satur day in lone. Some friends of Mrs. Clarence Harris surprised her Monday after noon with a party in honor of her birthday. The Topic Cub party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Yarnell Sat urday evening was well attended. Ten tables were in play. Those pre sent included Messrs and Mes dames J. E. Swanson, Victor Riet mann, Clyde Denny, Cleo Drake, Garland Swansosn, Hugh Smith, E. R. Lundell, Omar Rietmann, Carl Feldlman, Chas. Carlson, Algott Lundell, Chas. O'Conner, Lloyd Morgan, Werner Rietmann, Blaine Isom, Clifford Yarnell, E. Mark ham Baker; Mesdames Martin Cot ter, Edna Yarnell, Dixon Smith, C. W. Swanson, Clell Rae; Carlton Swanson and Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Yarnell. The prizes were won by members:: Mrs. Hugh Smith and Garland Swanson, high; Mrs. Carl Feldman and Cleo Drake, low; by guests: Mrs. Lloyd Morgan and Bill Isom, high and Mrs. Dixon Smith and Chas. O'Conner low. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford McCabe and daughter Shirley accompanied Mrs, Franklin Lindstrom and son Roy to The Dalles Saturday for a check-up on Roy's eye which was badly injured recently. Mrs, Ernest Heliker installed the following officers for the H. E. club of Willowa grange Friday af ternoon: chairman, Mrs. Louis Hal verson, vice chairman, Mrs. E. M. Baker, secretary, Mrs. Clarence Harris, treasurer, Mrs. P. J. O' Meara. The annual Christmas party was enjoyed and Mrs. Halverson was made guest of honor with spec ial refreshments served. Miss Helen Lindsay who is a sen ior at EOCE is spending her vaca tion with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Lindsay. John Eubanks has purchased the Carl Allyn pastime equipment and will open for business in the for mer Bullard Pharmacy building when refinishing is completed. Mrs. Willard Blake is recovering from a severe cold. Mrs. Henry Clark is bedfast with a cold. Mrs. Ruby Kincaid and Mrs. Min nie Forbes who returned from the hospital last week are well on their way to recovery. Little John Mason is recovering from an attack of bronchial pneu monia. The lone high school basket ball teams had a lucky day last Thurs day winning both games from Lex ington, the first string winning 44 36 and the second team 25-8. Miller Edwards and Joe Way provided spark for Lexington and Cannon, Haskins and Morris were the lead ing shot makers for lone. Rebekahs and Oddfellows had an enjoyable time at their annual Christmas party Tuesday night. Gifts were exchanged after which games were played, followed by re freshments of pie and coffee. Mrs. Ray Beesley of Lulling Nev. arrived Tuesday for a short visit with her mother, Mrs. Ella David son of lone and her sister, Mrs. H. D. McCurdy of Heppner. Enroute here she visited her son, Sgt. Jess Ray Beezley who is stationed at the base in Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Mc Curdy and Mrs. Davidson accom panied her as far as Arlington on Game Commission Schedules Meeting The Oregon state game commis sion will hold its annual hearing relative to angling regulations at its offices in 616 Oregon Building, Portland, on Saturday, Jan. 9, 1943 at 10:00 a. m. The meeting wil be open to the public and those interested are in vited to attend. Season bag limits and other reg ulations governing the taking of game fish during 1943 will be con sidered by the commission VIRGINIA WELLS BRIDE OF ALBERT MOORE A wedding of interest to Mor row county people was solemnized Sunday, Dec. 20 at the Methodist church in Hermiston when the pas tor, Malcolm B. Ballinger, spoke the words which united Miss Vir ginia Wells and Mr. Albert Moore, both of Hermiston. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Wells and a niece of Mrs. W. H. Instone of Lena. The groom is in the employ of his father, Sam Moore, Standard Oil distributor for Hermiston. her return trip Sunday. The Christmas program at the lone Cooperative church was well attended Fred and Sam Esteb of Washing ton are visiting their mother, Sa rah A. Esteb, who is ill at her home. (Later1 Mrs. Esteb passed away Tuesday evening.) Reese Burkenbine, member of the Heppner visiting friends, and rela coast guard, spent the week-end in tives.
